It was about 20 years ago so i only vaguely remember the details, I think it was Derren Brown who asked the TV studio audience what they thought the chances were of a flipped coin coming up heads or tails 10 times in a row.
The vast majority said said "Zero chance".
He then ran a film which showed him flipping a coin earlier that day, and heads (or tails) came up 10 times in a row.
He then admitted it was a trick, as he'd had to spend hours flipping with the camera running, until eventually 10 in a row came up and he left the failed attempts on the cutting room floor, and only showed the audience the successful one..:)
The moral seems to be that the more we do something, the better the chance that it'll happen eventually.

PS- highly experienced Alaskan bush pilot Jim Tweto fatally crashed recently, so I suppose bad things like that happen to people eventually if we keep rolling the dice long enough, as well as good things.
Hmm. Interesting.

You are at a place called Teasers and there is only one law.

You can look in the mirror, but you won't see your face.
You can have pizza with cheese or pineapple, but not with peperoni or tomato.
There is pepper, but no salt.
You can see a door, but there is no entrance or exit.

What is the law?

A riddle I heard this morning, but I didn't get it.

A doctor and his son are in a frightful car crash. The doctor is killed outright. They rush the injured youth to hospital. The surgeon takes one look at the
patient and says "I can't operate on this boy because he is my child"

explanation?...
the surgeon is his mother

Stumped me this time :)
Got frustrated and googled for the answer...
I'll leave it up to others to solve...

It has to have double letters in it?

The word I believe that does not belong is 'Carrot' because if you remove the first and last letter of all the others it makes another word...
I agree with Nick, but I'll use a different reason. Because it has a double letter in it.

I noticed this once on a test I did ages ago. It came up as correct, but the reasoning for it was different. It is sad though that there may be many angles to why something appears as something, and yet an examiner may mark it as right/wrong based on the answer's working out, when the working out is not actually wrong of itself, but another approach to it.

Also, looking forward to seeing other responses.

You may as well ask what's the difference between a pickled egg and a salamander...incidentally do you know?
Oh I take your point... ship/boat both the same. Navy types will always call it a ship.
However, the accepted answer, I think, is - You can put a boat on a ship but you can't put a ship on a boat.
And when you think about it... ships do have boats on them, e.g lifeboats, rowing boats. But there aren't any ships on boats. ;)

A convicted killer is given the choice of how to go... Door 1 - leads to a gas chamber. Door 2 - leads to a 2-man firing squad. Door 3 - leads to a pride of lions that haven't been fed for 3 years. Which door gives him the best chance of surviving, and why?
