Scenario 1. You ask the 'truthful' troll that question he will logically reply no.
Scenario 2. You ask the 'lying' troll that question he will logically reply yes.

Seeing as you don't know which one is telling the truth or lying, I'm afraid you get eaten....

Perhaps I should ask one of them- "Is your brother a liar?", and try to deduce the answer to the riddle from how he replies?

2. Riddle: What do you leave behind the more you take?
Is it footsteps in the snow?
Just out of interest, do you ever go through the alphabet when you think that a particular letter will trigger your memory to recall the name (either forename or surname, or both) of someone when a picture just doesn't do the trick?

Yes, I occasionally go through the alphabet, and sometimes I can see the name in my mind's eye, getting a clue by knowing if it's a long name or a short name and what letter it begins with. What helps is if I think they're younger or older from what I've seen them in before. Then I go through the shows I may have seen them in... Like.. was she in Tenko? no... House of Cards? No. Then when you do think of the name of the show.... Yes!

Possibly i should get out more, :) but it keeps my brain active.
PS- here's another 'sort of' riddle-
Which character saved Middle Earth in LOTR?

I've never seen any of the LOTR movies. I have watched the first Hobbit film staring Martin Freeman, that was ok. There's a scene in it with giant Trolls which was hilarious. :D

The LOTR trilogy was okay up to a point but not a patch on the books which I read years ago, because books paint pictures on the inside of our skull..:)
By contrast the 3 films didn't have much atmosphere.

I saw the "Troll" one in aTom Baker episode of Doctor Who. I think it was in "Pyramids of Mars". But I first heard it years before that in 1970. And I don't really want to blow things by just telling people the answer, but WickedPerdition has something.

A riddle I heard this morning, but I didn't get it.

A doctor and his son are in a frightful car crash. The doctor is killed outright. They rush the injured youth to hospital. The surgeon takes one look at the
patient and says "I can't operate on this boy because he is my child"

explanation?...
obvious innit, the surgeron had a fling with the doctors wife thus she gave birth to his son. Now he canny bear the shem ! he canny bear it!

I was a maths dummy at school and even after googling the answer to the 3 doors riddle I still can't get my head round it!

To recap- There are 3 doors and the car prize is behind one of them, and a goat booby prize is behind each of the other 2.
That means there's a 33% chance of picking the car door.
So let's say you pick door 1.
The host then opens a goat door (say door 3)
The host then says "Do you want to stick with door 1 or change your choice to door 2?"
There's now a 50% chance of the car being behind one of the other two.
Yet the answer is that if you switch your choice to door 2, you stand a better chance of winning the car than if you stuck with door 1.
I just don't get it !
Apparently, it is because when a succession of numbers starts to play out, it has to complete. This has nothing to do with whether door one, two or three had the car, but the chance that one took when initiating their choice. So, as strange as it may seem, Because you had a 1 in 3 chance of getting it right, you only had 33% chance of getting it right. If you had chosen your new door, you have a 1 in two chance, which is a 50% chance of getting it. It's about odds. So because you already had one door open and you lost, your chance of winning it are still 1 in 3, not 1 in 2. Weird huh? Yep. For we'd think, "Surely, if there are only two left, then it doesn't matter, does it?" and in a sense you're right. But the facts are, you've already lost one of three, which doesn't raise your odds. Your odds are still 1 in 3.

There'a a good video to show it, and how people fall for this when they gamble, and why the house can win on what seem like equal bets. Start at 26:45 for an example.

George, Helen, and Steve are drinking coffee.
Bert, Karen, and Dave are drinking Pepsi.

Following this pattern, is Elizabeth drinking coffee or Pepsi?

Yes, dear, there IS a pattern. Those with 2 "E"s in their name are drinking CoffEE, whilst those with 1 "E" are drinking the pop xx
I said yes because Elizabeth might wish to drink either, dear. The option being 50:50.

47.4%.

I've played Roulette in Real casinos and I've never lost once.

I play Roulette on-line when i get the time to do it.

I have never lost a penny.

I've not won 'Thousand's'... But a few hundred over a few months.

I do use a system though. Not liked in Casinos. On-Line they can't stop you using a system.

As long as you don't abuse it.

You see a boat filled with people.
It has not sunk, but when you look again you don't see a single person on the boat.

Why?
