Yeah , he has been mentioned on this thread with Video footage added ,

That was the "Big One" everyone feared would happen - 15 cars involved in that wreck with 3 cars launched into the catch fence ,

Dan was shredded by the fence and engulfed in flames,

It was awful.

10 minutes after he was announced dead the race was cancelled and all the cars did 5 laps in formation in his honor,

More recently 2015 the Brit Justin Wilson was also killed in the Indycar series.

There is no Halo in Indycar , that's F1 , they have cockpit covers that may have given him a chance ,

Dan's accident was very violent so maybe it would have who knows.

That was an awful crash i believe was 97/98 without checking ,
