George Orwell - Homage to Catalonia
I do like George Orwell so I was pleased to finally get round to reading this one. With it being non-fiction, this is possibly his least successful work (sales wise), but I wasn't disappointed with it. Worth a look if you're interested in the Spanish civil war or the International Brigade.

Captain Corelli's Mandolin by Louis de Bernieres

I've avoided this book because I dunno ,felt it wouldn't be my thing, would be too romantic, maybe too maudlin for my tastes. I was completely wrong. This book is worthy of ten reads, a read once a year even. It's funny, sweeping, realistic, but what really sets it apart is the beautiful prose- every sentence in this book is a joy. I HIGHLY recommend this book. 10/10

I'm reading a book called beginners, its about how learning new skills is easy for children but tougher for adults. Does anyone know if there's a modern translation of Don Quixote i can download? I can only seem to get the original and its a tough read. Not sure if translation is the correct term, but if anyones ever tried the original im sure you know what i mean.

At present reading a book by Kathy Reich. If it hadn't been for the prologue, I would have thought the author was a journalist recording current events in the form of a novel. It reads more like a documentary than a story.
