My experience of watching a whole race live...
I got a nice HD stream, Lots more pop-up adds than when I last used the site, but they're easy clicked off and it's a 'free gig' as they say, so no complaints there. It was nice to hear the national anthem's words just sang as they were written. Often at big events celebs try to extend notes or even add some, making the most of their big moment - just sing the bloody anthem!
I know I'm showing my ignorance of nascar racing here, because I did struggle to follow the tactics of the race. I mean Larson in pole, led a stream of cars on the inside, on the very first lap around a dozen cars on the outside passed all those cars on the inside, the same thing happened again somewhere around lap 120. On an oval the cars on the inside have less to travel than the outside cars, yet it seems to make no difference.
It was a shame for Larson at the end, he was just starting his charge, but crashed and spun off. The strangest thing for me in the race was that tyre, I've seen wheels come off in a race, but not just a tyre, how did that happen?.
The highlight of the race for me was Jacques Villeneuve. When I first heard the name I thought it was his son, carrying on the family tradition, but no, it was THE Jacques Villeneuve! Oh my, F1/Indy 500 champion, what is he doing in NASCAR, he can't be trying for a hat-trick surely? A great racer and a great champion, it was good to see he got round safely. It was a nice evening, made a change from just watching highlights.
