Where have all the dentists gone!?

Still no sign of the lesser-spotted NHS dentist in this area. It's been 18 months since my last visit, and thinking prevention is better than cure, I went to a place who offered 'affordable private dentistry.' £59 for a check-up, but of course it'll be another £79 for a scale and polish. I arrived 15 mins early, and I asked the receptionist what happens if you turn up late... If you're more than 7 mins late it's a £50 penalty charge. Not very affordable for a great many working-class people...

Don't be late then ...simples. next patient paying same amount so they shouldn't be kept waiting if person before is late.

Why not "forget" to pay your council tax and get 14 days inside

Or I could cross the channel in a borrowed rubber dinghy/possibly a kayak!... get within 12 miles of Dover and tell the RNLI/Border Force taxi service that as soon as they've placed me in a 4 star hotel i'll be needing a dentist.

But I'd leave it until next week: with flat water and nice weather they must be rush off there feet.

I recently had cause to find a new dentist. It took me a while to realise that I was on mission impossible. Because there is not a single dentist in this town taking on new NHS patients. I got talking to some of the receptionists and they mostly said the same thing - They've gone into private practice. I'm curious to know where all these new private patients will be coming from. Well guess what? I'm one of them! I eventually had no option but to go with a dentist that offered 'affordable private dentistry'. The check-up cost me £43, which is not bad compared to the NHS fixed price charge. But here's the rub, that was just for the check-up, anything else is extra. The scale and polish cost me a further £53. If you need an emergency appointment it's £85, should you need a filling, get ready to hand over another £109. All appointments have to be paid for in advance and it is not refundable. You miss your appointment - you've done your money. What the hell is happening to the NHS?

Yep, my dentist is private only but I've been with him for 20 years...... he has so many nice cars hmmm..

I wish my dentist would sing! lol, who knew dentists could be funny, light hearted and silly more on instagram but didn’t know if I could post instagram clips here, so went on YouTube. He’s so witty and funny and the eyebrows crack me up

I've given up looking for an NHS dentist. You can only phone up so many practices asking if they're taking on new patients only to be told no, sorry, before you give up the ghost.
I've opened a savings account specifically to pay for 'affordable private dentistry.' I remember years ago speaking to a girl in the U.S. I was staggered when she told me she was saving up to go to the dentist. Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think that one day I'd be in the same position.
