Late 90's, went to watch 'The Cook, the Thief, His Wife & Her Lover', directed by Peter Greenway, in an art-house cinema. The words art-house cinema should have warned me. (it closed down soon after). There was a scene where a murder involved force feeding the pages of a book to some poor bastard, which inspired me to try to end the hellish night by doing the same thing with the cinema booklet I had been given. I just remember it as being total purgatory.
Maybe, just maybe, I wasn't in the best frame of mind for it at the time. Should I try to watch it again? Perhaps. But only if I'm loaded up some kind of hallucinogenic substance!
