Over the holidays I have been watching Prisoner, which has just started a rerun on 5Select (channel 153 on Sky). I invite you, the fab forum few, to join me in watching all 692 episodes.

are we talking the original prisoner cell block h, or the horrific re-imagined one with milfs in it?

Oh I am definitely talking about the original Prisoner Cell Block H. I think the remake was called 'Wentworth', and I did watch the first episode, but it wasn't for me. A right old reimaging debacle!
I am currently up to episode 8 and still going strong! Bea Smith and Frankie have had another set-to and Marilyn has just been released...

And yes, what a fabulous theme song....

I'm really cracking on with it, i'm up to episode 50.... Noleen's back inside after a warehouse robbery went wrong. helping her in the caper was her
daughter, who is now living at Meg Jackson's house, which she went on to ransack! :DThe Doc is talking about leaving and there's talk of a half-way house for ex-prisoners.

Re 'Wentworth'... I probably didn't give it a chance, I made the mistake of comparing it to the original. From that clip it looks a hell of a lot more
violent! But I'll get round to watching it sometime, give it another go.

I looked on Channel 5's catch-up service and there's 100 episodes of Wentworth available to be downloaded. I may watch them in conjunction with Prisoner. For every 7 episodes of Prisoner i'll watch one of Wentworth. By my reckoning, If I try to watch an episode every morning, it will take me over two years to get to the end of both series.
To be perfectly honest, I don't know why I bother with a TV licence because I rarely watch live TV. I stream everything.

I was saddened to read that Maxine Klibingatis who played Bobbie Mitchell in Prisoner, died aged 58 in April 2023. Judging by photos of her at the Prisoner conventions, she was as quirky as her character Bobbie.
RIP Maxine.

I only caught the tail-end of the series when it was first aired in the 90s. I was in the Granada TV area at the time, and the final episode sticks in my mind, because before it was shown, the announcer had a phone interview with Maggie Kirkpatrick (The Freak) live from Australia. And what a final episode! It's a shame the series was cancelled just before it became a world-wide cult hit.

Sad news. I've recently been watching Martha, she always played a dumb heavy, minder to the likes of Noeline and Toni Mcnally. I'm up to around episode 90. I'm not doing so good with Wentworth, I've only watched the first 3 episodes.

I have a vague memory of Reb... Dark short hair, played the hard woman but it was just a front, though I may be wrong. I'll find out in the future when I catch up. I'm currently on around episode 110, though I can't be exact because 5Select are numbering the episodes by season eg S2.E30. Chrisie Latham has left, transferred to maternity wing. Doreen and Lizzie are back inside, Bea is in love, Jim Fletcher's (Fletch the Letch!) wife and kids have been killed in a bomb explosion. It's all go!

I noticed on my Sky guide That's TV2 (channel 188) are also showing 'Prisoner'. They're only up to episode 17. Get in there, fill your boots! :)

The thing is, Thats TV are very infrequent with the episodes.
I'm currently watching PCBH on YouTube, episode 310. I'll say nothing more other than, this was considered to be the golden era of the show.
I've always loved the show, and have rewatched it several times. I also watched the first 4 series of Wentworth. I liked the twists with some of the characters, but the show ended for me when Bea Smith died.

I take your point about ThatsTV2. I watch on 5Select, I view an episode and then the next one automatically downloads...

I'm really enjoying it at the moment. Jock Stewart Is the new prison officer, and what a very scary, intimidating man... As for Wentworth, I did like the 3 episodes I've watched so far but it's just finding the time. I will crack on with it soon though.

Oh yes, very much so, though I've been having a little break from it so I that can catch up on other shows. The last episode I watched was the season 2 finale, which is probably around episode 170. Meg's just got married, Doreen's making a break for it because she's due to stand trial for kidnapping Latham's baby, and the escape tunnel has collapsed leaving some of the women trapped. Compulsive viewing!
