No matter who wins the next election this policy will come into force.

This got to be the most worrying statement I have seen since I was a kid. For those of you who aren't smart enough to work out what's going on.... it's part of "war fever" that seems to be spreading across Europe and NATO.

Right now they're only talking 18 year old's but that will soon change to anyone under the age of 30. Is the first stage in sending all kids off to protect Poland or Turkey. Before you will go on about the fact that we need to stop Russia just think about the numbers of Ukrainians we took in avoiding their own draft.

The idea that we have to pay to defend these countries and sacrifice our young people is unacceptable. It's not our war !
You most patronising. What an idiot.

I agree, it's not our war but NATO commitment is. NATO has it's faults but it is generally a force for good. There should be a buffer zone between us and Russia but there isn't now and after Putins tactics over the last few years, it might never be reversed.

You have little understanding of Turkish military/politics.

This is so offensive for families that have people in the army

Another one who don't understand how the army works

The people in the army right now choose to be there.
When a war happens the rest of us have to put our life's on hold for years and fight it. People have no choice in the matter.

Can you see the difference?

Do you really want our young people dying for this bunch?

War is a political choice, as is joining the armed forces.

Do you want a war with Russia?
Probably not, then stop giving Ukraine what it wants.
It so sad that the people of Ukraine got bombed so badly when all Russia wants is the territories who want to belong.

I would suggest one should learn the history of the region before one gets all emotional about it.

Tis the same with Palastine, one war is good for the governments in power, but the other is bad, hypocracy at its finest.

I don't care Ukraine or Russia. Neither is worth dying for.

Why do people always try and make our their war, OUR war?

UK gave over 4.1 billion to Ukrain while people here die waiting to be seen in a&e and use food banks.

Is this what I pay tax?

You don't know your history

In 1914 the British army regulars' we mostly dead within the first 6 months. Volunteers took over and when they were dead, conscription took over in 1916.

In 1939 they didn't wait, the day war was declared they brought conscription.

Our current army is gear up for wars of "choice".

I cant think of the last time the UK was attacked..... so I look it up ;)

The Battle of Fishguard was a military invasion of Great Britain by Revolutionary France during the War of the First Coalition. The brief campaign, on 22–24 February 1797, is the most recent landing on British soil by a hostile foreign force, and thus is often referred to as the
"last invasion of mainland Britain".

So next time your out shopping, take a long hard look at those poor souls aged between 18 - 41. They will be the people forced to fight while the "regulars" will all get promotions. Well someone has to stand behind them and give orders and just remember.......if they don't move forwards.... someone needs to shoot a few of them to "encourage" the others ;)

Could be worse, we could could go all Diversity and Inclusion and draft women.
Then there would be hell to pay.
lol

Our Army isnt worth the money we pay for it, it has crap kit, crap training and crap discipline.

My mates grandson joined the army last year, lasted about 8 weeks, cause it was not the army his grandad joined.
He basically descrided it as summer camp.
How can you train people for combat unless you retrain thier brains to accept orders first and above all.

Tis a mystery to me lol

I think a front line of women in the army might work...but they should be the second wave. The first should be the "Gentlemen with glasses".

A team of soldiers runs over the hills. "You wouldn't hit a gentleman with GLASSES ON...would you?? WOULD YOU???"

Then the second wave. A wave of women soldiers. "Now you wouldn't hit a WOMAN, would you?? WOULD YOU???"

Just don't tell the enemy your tactic.
