For some, well many i think, this is a form of escapism from what is going on in their lives, no one knows what goes on behind closed doors, what trials and tribulations they're going thru, so yes, speaking "rubbish" as you put it, for them is just what they need...we're all here for a reason...no one makes you go in a room, i know that it's not everyones cuppaT

I know what you are saying but the fact remains that one could record a chatroom just once and replay it every day/night and it would be the same topic ! Food, footy, men, women, . Now i`m stuck for new topics !. If anyone dare try to butt in ( join in ) with the conversation and change the subject they will often get ignored or mocked. I personally don`t see what is wrong with a serious chat ,so why do people ,especially mods, advocate that chatters should chat for a giggle or banter ?

Nobody has said serious chat shouldn’t happen and I’ve never seen anyone mocked for having a serious discussion. However, many people don’t like to discuss politics, religion, etc, and you have to take into account the people in the room when choosing a topic. On Monday night people were leaving 40s because we were discussing politics so the subject was dropped. Other nights politics has been fine.
You have to accept that most ppl use chat as an escape from reality, not to discuss the same stuff they do away from chat.

Remember the days when we use to actually go out of the house and could even go to the pub .... the topic of conversation usually ended up about Food, footy, men and women!
