Just a point of correction: a cat is something NOT someone.

Why was my name mentioned in this thread in a derogatory fashion ? and by a mod ! I havn`t posted anything on it and only just perused it to fill my time but seems that those who condemn me should look inside themselves.

To be more precise a Cat is "some animal " not "something ".
Well, it certainly is not a human being, that's for fucking sure! Perhaps a more apt description might have been some thing.
You must be struggling to find a thread to comment on if it's taken you this long to return to this dead and buried topic.

In this sentence I suspect WP was referring to the cat as an 'it'.

Cats are referred to as an 'it' in the english language (as any other animal).

How many of you refer to a cow, pig, horse or any other animal, bird, insect ot fish which doesn't belong to you as a 'she' or 'he'?

Very few, I suspect.

It's the emotional attachment which changes an 'it' into a 'she' or 'he' .

However I'm not 100% sure that 'something' is grammatically correct in that context.

From the web:

Definition of something as a pronoun:

1a: some indeterminate or unspecified thing

1b: some indeterminate amount more than a specified number, used in combination

2: a person or thing of consequence

3 : one having more or less the character, qualities, or nature of something different

something else
: something or someone special or extraordinary

Definition of something as an adverb:

1: in some degree : SOMEWHAT
2: used as an intensive giving adverbial force to an adjective

Call your animal by it's name instead of "It" My dog Kenji!
