Starmer would have just bought more fences to sit on, and handed out free cushions for those wanting to take a knee. He’s softer than wet cotton wool.

Would you bet on that?

Starmer is way stronger than Boris...Getting into the Nitty Gritty of it,,,Starmer is WAY stronger than Boris..,.You know this,.So do I,

Please don’t assume you know me or what I believe. Starmer is just a better dressed Corbyn, weak and deluded. Especially after your “tea total” claim on the other thread. That did make me laugh.

Bang on Fair comment....Kier Starmer though?... There will only be ONE winner next elections....It WILL be him...;)

I don't know about that. According to one poll, one of Starmer's main weaknesses is that people don't know who he is, or what he stands for. He also doesn't have that appeal that Corbyn had, especially on the campaign from 2017, whether you like him personally or not.
I predict the Conservatives and Boris Johnson will be praised for the handling and distribution of the vaccines. Not necessarily the handling of the pandemic itself, because let's face it, it's been dire.

You said, ‘Whichever party came up with the idea to make us pay for collecting /disposing of Green waste............. I shan`t be voting for them !.‘
I merely asked who you’re local council are. You seem very defensive for some reason? What is the problem with just answering the question?
Couldn`t you just make a comment with your own opinion and not need to question the party which i may vote for ? How will that help you ?.

But here's the thing, people know what the Conservatives are, which is why a lot of people felt dirty voting for them in 2019. Do you know how difficult it was for people to vote Tory for the first time? That's how bad Labour has messed up and how much they've alienated its core base.
So we can sit here and blame everyone else for Labour's abysmal record over the past decade and come up with these excuses, or they can own up to their mistakes and try to move on from 2019. So far, it doesn't look too promising.
How did a party who were NOt in power mess up over the last decade then ? That don`t really make any sense to me ,sorry.

The Op DanNorfolk is one of those guests everyone dreads seeing at a dinner party... as the "hilarious funny story" concludes everyone looks around nervously muttering " is that the time, early start tomorrow" before shuffling off into the night

Never mind. You obviously don’t want to say for some reason. You stated you won’t vote for the party who brought in those measures so only your local council matters in this case but if you don’t want other peoples opinion, why create a forum?

My local council has been Labour since i was born lol. I believe people vote for them because they are stuck in the past of the old Labour, who used to represent the working classes, but in fact are now influenced by upper-middle class people, who live the life of luxury, which has alienated a lot of former Labour supporters. Having Sir Keir Starmer, a Knight of realm as leader, just shows how out of touch Labour have become. And i think we'll see that, as more working class people vote for the Conservatives or alternative Parties in future elections. And that's the problem Labour will face.
After the shock of the last election result, they should have had a post-mortem to discuss what went wrong. They seem to think it was all about Corbyn and all they had to do was get rid of him.
Voting for the council is difficult because there are so many issues to deal with. My local council do an excellent job on Green Spaces and Parks, but there are other areas where they are not so efficient.

They don't have to be in power to royally screw it up. I'm taking about their campaigning and messaging as a credible opposition who are supposed to represent working classes, who have felt abandoned by a Party who once used to represent them. Alan Johnson highlighted what Labour's problems were and why they are struggling to win elections. And that is these fringe groups from within, who will sabotage and cause destruction if they don't get their way, but also alienate voters because a lot of these fringe groups only focus on one particular group of people.
My argument is that Labour is no longer a credible opposition. And it's a shame because i think you need strong functioning oppositions in a democracy.

I believe a lot of it was to do with Corbyn. People on the streets and at the doors didn't trust him. But the media played a big part in that. Being portrayed as anti-patriotic, as an IRA sympathiser, but also judged based on his leadership skills, especially on the whole Brexit saga.
They did try to get rid of Corbyn, but here was a guy who managed to net Labour over half a million new members, which is quite an achievement. Whether you personally like Corbyn or not, you can't deny that he had widespread appeal. A quality that i think Sir Keir Starmer lacks. They believed the Centrist approach was the answer to Labour's dire situation.

I agree. council and local issues are completely different. Some are good, and some are bad. It's voting for those ones that have proven to be even somewhat efficient.

I`m afraid i have to disagree with some of your theory. I still think a lot of traditional "labour" supporters are actually wannabe rich people and think that by voting labour will make them appear less than wealthy.. The simple fact is that Corbyn lost Labour the election as he promised to achieve a more equal society and many labour voters simply don`t want that. It was a bit overboard to promise £60 billion to the NHS (by Corbyn) ...look what`s happened now ? £3 or £4 hundred billion ! out of thin air :D.
All i can say is that the ex-labour supporters( traitors) deserve everything they get ( including redundancy !). They wanted rich ; they got it .

Whichever party came up with the idea to make us pay for collecting /disposing of Green waste and then disallows us to use a Gren compostable bag inside the bin to prevent it getting dirty plus stops the use of said bin for food waste . Instead it offers to provide free a caddy or two for food waste ,adding to the other 3 wheely bins . At the slightest sign of any food in the Green waste bin ,however accidental ,the bin men will /can refuse to empty the Bin so it will be left until two weeks later , .etc. For this we get the pleasure of paying £40 per annum ,compared to before when it was free.
This of course adds to the 5% increase in Council Tax ...which doesn`t give us any improvement whatsoever.

I shan`t be voting for them !.

This is the only comment I’ve responded to Hells. YOUR statement that you wouldn’t vote for the party that provide the stated services. I know you want to make an argument out of if, but all I asked was ‘which Party runs your local council?’. Why turn it into an argument?

,

I don’t SPY, but yes I do hear what you’re up up sometimes and it amuses me that you seem to make me the topic of every conversation you have. Last night was the first time in over a month I’ve been in the rooms, and one sentence was enough, I didn’t even hang around for your response.
And finally I have never used any other name on here, I’ve not signed in as a guest. So please stop those silly allegations. Thank you.

The Conservatives are a bunch of pompous Rich feeding snakes but they are a professional outfit who seem to get things done ,

Labour are a bunch of incompetent arseholes who always screw everything up , they can't be trusted with anything ,

No other party seems to make a difference so not worth mentioning them ,

Unless there is a close election then they all gang up to form a Clique and forget every moral they ever believed in ,

Boris and his Bellends were deffo more trustworthy to get us through this ,

Who will trust Labour again after Tony "Weapon of mass Destruction" Blair ,

What a bunch of knobs.

I take it you`re a Socialist then poco ?:) also did you see the sharp Uturn pulled off by Boris when the need for more than £60 billion was needed to solve th Pandemic problem ? I know you won`t answer ( from what you have stated here) but wasn`t it the Tories who scorned Labour during the Elections about the Labour plan to spend £60 billion on NHS if they got into power ?. " where will they get £60 billion from ? " ...hahahaa yet this Chancellor has managed to get over £300 billion !
Weapons of war yes ..it was wrong but how about the Sinking of the Belrano in Falklands war ? . 400 men went down with a ship which was steaming away from the British Zone ,by a sub. Who gave the order to sink it ?? A labour PM was it ? hahaaa ball in your court mate :).
