It is interesting to see on the news events in the world that demonstrate where we are in the stream of time, as regards a prophecy that Daniel, the prophet who was taken prisoner as a royal youth into Babylon, and later set free in the next empire, that of the Medes and the Persians.
According to Daniel chapter two, a succession of nations would happen, each being described as part of the image of a statue, made of various metals, and clay. In the last days, it is described as being "feet and ten toes, partly of iron and partly of clay", and explains that the people will not be mixed together. They just won't work together, which is the state of affairs in the world now.
It is interesting that it describes "ten toes", just as Revelation describes "ten kings" too. In fact, both relate to a world situation, not just one of one nation.
According to this prophecy, no other nation rises up afterwards.
No China taking over the world.
No third world countries taking over the world.
No Islamic Sharia law.
Nope. Sorry. Nothing.
The next thing said to happen is a kingdom still, but it specifically states that this kingdom is not one "cut by hands". It shows that it itself becomes the next kingdom, and this kingdom is from God.
Yes, the promise for the future, even prior to the Messiah - also prophesied to come through Daniel - speaks of God's kingdom, of which Jesus specifically prayed for, and taught as the solution to all of the world's problems. He also reiterated the same thoughts as Daniel's prophecy, in that this kingdom was not from this source.
Where we are can be demonstrated by considering that we now live in a world that has had the capability to blow the smithereens out of enemies for well over 70 years, and systems and ways of understanding that should in theory be able to make the world a better place, yet there is inability. We are stagnated by this very fact that we are living in a period of time that the people do not stick together, and instead ideas go forward, but are not able to be passed, due to the not "sticking together".
