[Moriarty]

Think of the buzz of having an affair
the excitement, nothing can compare
sneaking out,
to put it about
can't get enough,
of their bit of fluff
stuck in the home,
their mind may roam
tired of a partner they no longer desire
it's a new lover they now require!

What is an affair of the heart
Is it lust reduced to an art
systemically breaking
that all love is mistaking
just a desire for love being real
or loving lust just for its zeal
"stuck in the home
thier mind may roam"
But real love is all they desire
No other lover do they require.

If only the politicians
had been brave,
and didn't try to save people
with one foot in the grave.
for the old and the sick
some shed a few tears,
but the economic fallout
will haunt us for years.
the lockdown it turned out
was worse than the disease,
it's brought the country
nigh on to its knees...

When your words
become distant friends
who seldom visit you,
When all days are one
and all times the same,
and what you put down
you can no longer pick up,
remember that you,
now forlorn,
who used to be a writer
once made life that littler bit brighter.

All these words I heard, and I saw them emerging with a stream of ever thinning blood from that wounded heart.

More was said, but my misted eyes and crying prevented further sight or hearing.

Every 1st of September,
with sadness I will remember.
Meditating on the rooftop,
irate that it didn't even stop.
A tear will come to my eye,
as I look up there in the sky.
You were so sensitive, so tender,
so easily hurtable,
Struck down in your prime,
by a flashy convertible.
