Marvellous video btw. Your flicking action is a joy to behold. I shall borrow some of those movements to improve my own work.

And, I never get up, usually around 5am, until I have practiced my trowel action and flicking. I have a very flexible left hand.

It is the start to a perfect day. Spontaneous trowel happiness and satisfaction.

Hey guyz some really rather groovy trowel pics I must say, and here is a picture of my Japanese trowel collection.





Trowels are an important cog in Japanese culture because traditional tea houses, chashitu, are often plastered with native soil, the aesthetic of "wabi-sabi", less is more, and fine earthen plastering is a highly regarded craft and the craftsmen are well respected.

Highly skilled sword black smiths started forging trowels after the dissolution of the samurai class, production of swords banned, and in Japan there are over 100 different trowels.

Hey guyz I hope that you are enjoying your trowel journey, and today I will be discussing trowel handle angles and size, size because size really does matter!

These are the two most popular trowel patterns and the London brick trowel pattern has a rounded heel and carries mortar farther forward on the blade, making it ideal for brickwork. The Philadelphia Brick Trowels however have a wide blade profile designed to hold more mortar, making it easier to lay larger building materials like block and stone.

Here I am explaining angles in a YouTube video, angle are very important because it puts less strain on the wrists and elbows and
you don't want a sore wrist when you are working your trowel.

Here's a couple of photos of myself and my latest brick build project.

On this build I used sticky rice mortar. Marvelous stuff. Expect it to last thousands of years.

Scaffolding is another one of my areas of expertise.

And, I expect the rainbow hat will bring joy to the other forum users.

Impressive brickwork there, and the wall looks pretty good too, TwoWhalesInAPool.

Coincidently, I had a friend work on the very same job but much further to the south, though. He started there as a 17-year-old apprentice and retired on the same job well into his 60s.

Here he is 1127 miles (1813.731 km) into the job.

Good morning guyz, you gorgeous sexy people.

I am just enjoying a nice mug of Yorkshire Tea. Living it large, builder's strength with three teabags and 15 sugars and of course a satisfying Hobnob, or two.


While I lightly oil my trowel mentally preparing for the day ahead, I always play this song to get into the groove, enjoy!
