Hi everyone!

I’m Vanessa, 33, from Huddersfield in West Yorkshire. I thought I’d introduce myself properly as I’m hoping to make some genuine, meaningful and long-lasting friendships with like-minded people.

I’m in a relationship with my boyfriend Thomas, who I’ve been with for nearly six years. I’m only interested in strictly platonic friendships, nothing romantic, sexual or inappropriate.

I’m friendly, caring, loyal, affectionate, thoughtful and chatty once I feel comfortable with someone. I’m also autistic and struggle with anxiety and mental health, so I particularly appreciate people who are patient, understanding, accepting, respectful and non-judgemental.

My interests and hobbies include:

Listening to music, karaoke, watching TV and films, going to the cinema and theatre, visiting arcades, funfairs and theme parks, enjoying days out, going for meals, doing quizzes and spending quality time with people I care about. I enjoy a mixture of fun activities and relaxing at home.

Animals, nature and space:

I absolutely love animals and nature, and I’m deeply fascinated by aliens, UFOs, space and the mysteries of the universe!

Some of my favourite animals include:

Cats, rabbits, hamsters, reptiles, parrots, swans, peacocks, flamingos, owls, sloths, Highland cows, capybaras, horses, giraffes, lions, leopards, tigers, elephants, monkeys, pandas, alpacas and lemurs.

My favourite creature is the butterfly, which is also the inspiration behind my username!

My favourite colours:

Orange is my absolute favourite, but I also love pink, purple, teal, burgundy and rose gold.

The kind of friendships I’m looking for:

I’m particularly interested in making friends aged 30 and over who live in the UK, preferably West Yorkshire or Greater Manchester.

If I’m ever lucky enough to form a genuine, long-term friendship with someone on here who lives in West Yorkshire or Manchester, or even someone from elsewhere who wouldn’t mind travelling to Huddersfield occasionally, perhaps once a month, that would be absolutely lovely!

I’d really enjoy having someone to meet up with regularly for days out, meals, cinema trips, fun activities or simply spending time together and enjoying each other’s company.

One thing I’d like to mention is that, because of my autism and anxiety, I find going out independently and meeting people on my own particularly difficult. Therefore, I’d feel much more comfortable having my boyfriend Thomas accompany me for support when meeting up.

I hope anyone interested in becoming friends would be understanding and accepting of this and wouldn’t mind him being there. It wouldn’t mean we couldn’t enjoy ourselves or build a lovely friendship. Having someone I know and trust alongside me simply helps me feel more comfortable, confident and supported.

Of course, I’d want us to get to know each other properly through messaging first, build trust and establish a genuine connection before arranging anything in person.

I’m looking for people who enjoy proper conversations, have a sense of humour, show genuine interest, make an equal effort and value honesty, kindness, consistency and mutual respect.

I’m not particularly interested in endless repetitive small talk, one-word replies or conversations that never seem to go anywhere. I much prefer getting to know someone properly and discussing shared interests, experiences and different topics.

I prefer communicating through messages and voice notes rather than phone or video calls.

I’m not looking to collect hundreds of online contacts. I’d much rather build a few meaningful, lasting friendships with people who genuinely want to stay in touch.

If you’ve read this far, thank you! If you think we might have things in common and you’re also looking for a genuine friendship, feel free to introduce yourself and tell me a little about your interests.

Looking forward to hopefully getting to know some lovely people!

Vanessa

I'm also here for platonic relationships and I also like the fact this isn't "social media" in the way insta and all the rest has taken over. I also like the vague sense of anonymity forums give that other platforms dont.

I'm 37, in a full committed marriage of 5 and my wife and I enjoy travelling and were lucky enough to backpack around SE Asia.

Don't get me started on nature and space. Bit of a nerd to be honest - I will live stream the launches of spaceX rockets if I'm awake when it happens and the knowledge the ISS will never become an interactive museum when it come to the end of it service, will forever be a source of emotional agony to me.
Ive also had the privilege of going to see prof Brian Cox live which was fascinating.

Cats are top tier. As are owls but essentially crows and I fully intend to befriend a murder of them until they bring me trinkets! I'm also a big fan of tortoise and elephants.. but I can't think of an animal I don't like? What would that even be like?

I live in Scotland by the way. Up north in the highlands.

I'm interested in getting to know people and form friendships with like minded individuals on a sort of, no stress kind of situation. I am new to this forum but don't let that put you (or anyone else) off. It's just I wasn't sure what I was looking for until now.

Anyways. That was a ramble! Feel free to hmu or something if you feel like it.

I’m also new to this app, I’m based in Manchester, unfortunately I’m not over 30 but I love wildlife which I think we would bond over. I studied Marine biology at uni so I am a bit nerdy about wildlife, birdwatching is another hobby of mine, when I go stoke, where my partner lives, I point out all the birds and spiders (much to his dismay )
I am also looking for a genuine friendship,
