Philosophy itself Is one big huge continued conversation of human history, events and social critiques

The Great mind itself constructs the future for ideology and sets the foundation for concepts, ideals or social order they want to see manifest in the future.(The world in their Image)

They know blood has to be spilt to achieve their visions but all great philosophers are not men of action they will overthink and bait those that listen and will act. (Revolution or removal of power)

All the great Philosophers throughout history are reactionary to what they conceive the status quo of the day is (The Power) which sets social order and deems was it just and what is fair.

After going back to yesterday it popped into my head the Vision of Nietschze (overman) a superior man to the modern man but he did not actually support this in reality. Which is why I have conflicting views on him. I admire a lot Nietschze highly complex ideals and beliefs (with 'his will to power' text being the best piece of philosophy I have ever read)

But he was a coward at heart he bullied his own sister who married a strong fit and uncompromising proto Nationalist Socialist and what the Nationalist Socialists had as tenants was not to dissimilar to what Nietschze wanted from an 'Overman' but he knew deep down he never had the strength, bravery or social skills to become that man his sister married as he was thinker not a man of action.

His ideals and beliefs was just huge bait and a projection for other men to carry the torch for his dream of the 'overman' to take that burden. Whilst he backtracked in later life and denounced those that will attempt to become the 'Overman'

The search for ultimate truth is the inalienable prerogative of your working thinkers (philosophers). As there are rigidly defined areas of uncertainty and doubt, they can keep themselves on the gravy train for life by forever arguing about answers that don't exist. Might be an idea for the human race to build a giant, super computer to determine the meaning of life, the universe, everything :)

There is too much greatness in humanity for that in my view

Hero's and legends come from War. Acts of bravery, fortitude or just sheer will to dominate
Prophets, Saints and Martyrs come from Oppression that inspire others
The Natural Beauty of Femininity that can rival that of the sheer brute strength and will of a man

Drama, Intrigue and debate all come from spiraling thoughts of despair which creates philosophy in my view and the search for the truth or for the want of creating a new truth.

The computers once powerful enough will enslave us just as the powerful man before them attempts to enslave humanity

I personally never want to become a slave to computers that will attempt to control what we think and feel.

I look at humanity today and just regular conversations I see 90% of them enslaved not free of thought as media and tech are plugged in 24/7 reminding them already what to think and feel. They have already adopted the slave morality Nietzsche talks about

Was Nietzsche ever married, or did he spend his life thinking? His opinion that it is the quest for power that drives humanity would come unstuck in the kitchens of life.
He might be on to something when he goes on about energy, and matter being energy.
Energy is what moves the universe, and energy is not power, it is it's life blood, not it's brain.
I think this discussion will run and run.

Nietzsche advanced the theory on what previous philosophers saw as the 'will to survive' and explains it as a 'will to power'
Just as a tree will grow it's roots to suck up resources to gain power the human will grow its strength, wealth, health, status etc to gain his/her
Energy and power are separate he see's the 'will to power' as instinctive and natural and is not just consciousness but is an energy a 'will'' that is a force along side it.

He is being metaphysical in that sense. Metaphysics basically

Kitchens of life you mean marriage ?
If a wife is dominant over you it would imply her will is stronger than yours in my view. It is why it has become harder for masculine thinking men in the modern age or even up to the enlightenment to not keep a long term marriage without huge compromise or submission to the woman. Talking European Society as the concepts of freedom. equality, equal rights, feminism (all waves) etc had only been exclusively applied in some European countries and the rest of the anglosphere at this time.

No he was never married he ended up going insane in later life not read much into it but I get the impression he died heavily conflicted. I gave his sister marrying a man of action which he bullied her for as an example as I don't think he believed he could attempt to be the 'Overman' or even start the foundation for it.

I can't go into a more in depth response here as I would get banned

He, like many philosophers seems to have lost his way in later life.
Like all young men he believed he could explain the universe, yet he died a sad death.
Men will continue to reason the point of energy, and maybe close to succeeding but the power? That will remain a mystery.

Well...let's look at Harry, a one-time prince of the realm and now, a piteous shadow of his former self. His desire led to his historic undoing, just as her desire led to her triumph.
Swings and balances eh?

Her will to power is stronger than his

He has gone on record to state he doesn't care about his title but she surely cares of it's power

Harry is emasculated by modern liberalism whilst the women's will is strengthened by it and overpowers the submissive male.

I can't stand her as a person but I respect her Will to Power

Yes, my point was that there is a balance. a natural evening of things; energy and power co-exist, but they struggle.

I see it differently the 'will to power' at the end is the will to dominate

You can socially engineer that power out of a man just as you can socially engineer that power into a woman through ideology, social pressure etc

If a man's morality tells him to submit to a woman from ideology and give up his 'will to power' he will. Just as if a woman's morality tells her she is entitled to that power she will just keeping seeking more power.

Liberalism is but a flibbertigibbet, a here today and gone tomorrow.
However at the moment it is a potent weapon that strikes the awkward.
We should remember that the balance of the universe is just that... a balance of all things. Things will be righted, or wronged but they will be seen to, in time.

Where we differ I don't believe in equality or balance or human rights or sayings of karma. Power can create or ignore the created morality when suits them against a weaker power or someone that has no power at all

People that say oh 'Karma will bite him in the arse one day' are just people that don't have enough power to stop him or her.

All fallacies to me as the most powerful dictates the morality or attempts to steamroll those less powerful

All I see is power

But you must believe in balance!
The universe is in balance, our galaxy is in balance and we shall rue the day they are not!

I don't see the universe as balanced it is pure chaos it is permanent clashes of energy and forces

The power of gravity stops the earth flying out into deep space

The impact of 2 clashing planets created the earth and the moon and the power of gravity makes them orbit around a much more powerful sun

The sheer power of energy created what our reality see's as the universe

And if you religious it was the Power of God that created the universe in his image

The idea of the Overman has always been open to (mis)interpretation as Nietzsche left a lot of room for ambiguity in defining his vision of 'super-being'. When Elizabeth (his sister), who was anti-Semitic just as her husband, took control of the Nietzsche Archive when Nietzsche became insane, she took the liberty of editing and modifying her brother's work to suit her own anti -Semitic and nationalistic ideology but also in an effort to spread his ideas to a wider population which ultimately caused more damage in the long run for Nietzsche. Nietzsche wasn't anti -Semitic. He even broke off his long-standing friendship with Wagner, whom he had regarded as father-figure in his youth, due to Wagner's increasing anti-Semitic views. Although some of Nietzsche's views can be interpreted as conforming with those of the Nazis, the differences between the two outlooks are more pronounced than similarities. What Nietzsche envisioned in his theory of Overman was an internal struggle to overcome one's weaknesses and rise above the confines of herd mentality thus overturning one's life for the better, not the conflict that would engulf the entire world. He would have been horrified and disgusted at how his philosophy was distorted and misused.

His sister had bigger balls than he did

If the 'Overman' was purely just an internal struggle to overcome one's weaknesses he wouldn't of become renowned as one of the greatest thinkers to ever live. The Overman was clearly the concept of a newer man a superior man distinct from the modern man. Just as the modern man is clearly distinct and superior from the monkey or gorilla.

It was the 3rd positionists/national socialists pre ww2 who were the last people that attempted moving towards the 'overman' post enlightenment era. There have been no other ideologies in the west since that are not stemmed in what he see's as Christian morality a worship of the weak and the strive to equalize humanity. The only ideologies that have rejected those concepts are nationalism/fascism and the 3rd position in general (anti liberal, anti capitalist and anti communist politics)

The Christian morality he speaks of is a slave morality that becomes a mentality which is entrenched within liberalism/marxism/communism in the western world today (it was a manifestation of equality, self flagellation and strive for universalism) which is exactly that. Those that seek justice to over power those with more power. The falsities as he calls it which can yield power to it's followers. *A cognitive dissonance in my eyes. Those that are in power benefit from keeping humanity down with these concepts which he saw them as an obstacle that needed to be overcome and talks about this concept in 'Will to Power'

Worship of the weak and the less able an acceptance of mediocrity instead of striving for greatness. Which holds back human development and the creation of the 'Overman' beyond the modern man.

All you seem to take from Nietzsche is he wasn't 'anti semitic' and ignore his disgust for equality and little virtues and falsities which he calls them out as.

You may as well just become an evangelical Christian a communist or stay a liberal sheep which is the safest position of conformity today. There is not much difference between any of these they all believe in the same foundations at it's core which is universalism and the strive for equalization of humanity. All the powerful liberal capitalists are happy to see these ideologies flourish and fund them with their huge wealth as striving for mediocrity keeps them in power and maintains that slave morality they have over you which allow them to control you.

Without redacting your statement, you appear to insinuate that Mankind strives for 'the will to power'.
It is neither a new nor great philosophical concept. It is what ALL lifeforms strive for, essentially. That way, their survival is likely to continue.
You only cite Nietzsche in your argument. Why do you not support it with reference to others, seeing as you made a sweeping title to your thread?
Philosophy is something we all participate in during our lifetimes. I have had many 'eureka' moments myself when I have indulged superficially.
As LadyOnArooftop states, " they can keep themselves on the gravy train for life by forever arguing about answers that don't exist".
I think the computer in The HitchHiker's Guide To The Galaxy solved your quandary, by the way. Maybe the number 42 has supernatural powers.
The ultimate question, for us as human beings anyway, HAS to be : "Why are we here"? That's even before we consider what the universe is!
Exchanging philosophical views is a great way to pass a few cold winter evenings by the fireside.
Happy thinking.
:)

Well we differ as I made various responses before on this thread the 'will to power' was the advanced theory of the 'will to survival' which many previous philosophers went that direction with. He was revolutionary in thought to that extent. I have not seen any decent critiques from later philosophers yet going against his 'will to power' none of any great substance anyway unless you have some to post?

I would be interested in seeing them

and yes i agree sharing views is great that is why i would be interested in seeing some critiques of 'will to power' or great minds claiming why he is wrong or mis-viewed it in some way.

You haven't really gone into detail of what exactly you disagree with what I said just as Inabsentia didn't either as she just went on about him not being 'anti semitic' and ignored nearly everything else in what the 'overman' and the 'will to power' put together actually entail.
