Lovely sentiment, but it's not true. We live in a world where humans are little more than parasites, breeding and feeding. There are plenty of people that die alone and unloved; some not speaking to another human for weeks on end. We live in a world where that happens more frequently than we would like to think. I urge you to look up Joyce Vincent- a woman no-one noticed was dead for 2 years.

Love is an illusion that gives most humans the resilience not to kill themselves, but to some of us, that's literally all it is- an illusion.

The man arrested in his own house for apparently "acting somewhat strangely" in the early hours of New Year's Day in Bolton. Rather than seeking psychiatric help for the troubled man, he was instead driven 10 miles away to Wigan by the arresting officers, de-arrrested and dumped outside a supermarket in the freezing cold. Without a wallet, a phone, a jacket and in his bare-feet.

Killed by a speeding hit-and-run drunk driver as he was making his way home at 4.15 am...

In his time of need, when he was desperate for help, he wasn't special at all, was he?

Tell that to an Iraqi mother about her 5 year old son who died during the UK bombing of Baghdad or Kabul.
We aren't special, we are just who we are and what happens to us.

Everything else is just hope's and dream's.

I agree that some people die alone and unloved which is a very sad place to be. What bought about that situation I wonder?! Love may be an illusion for some built on personal experience, but in many cases you reap what you sow. Love starts with self and if that's elusive then your perceptions will be clouded.

Compassion is sometimes the last thing people need.
Watched an interview with someone who ran a homeless charity.
He stated that sometimes the best thing you can do, if your not willing to talk to them, is walk by thereby forcing the homeless into accepting a meal from a shelter as they can get the help they need.
Giving them money in many cases just feeds thier drug and/or alchohol addiction.

We almost got rid of homelessness in this country back in the 90's, it's now more prevelent than ever as we have no where to put them.
Divorce rates are at an all time high and the drug trade is much more established.
Plus we have very high immigration which leads to less emergency housing availability.

Those are political points yes, but the best thing you can do for a homeless person isn't give them money, it's talk to them.
Most of them are at the lowest possible time in thier life, they feel like they dont matter.
Everyone has given up on them so they resort to the charity and compassion of strangers to simply survive.

By not being what people call compassionate, by telling them that they can make a change in thier own life, not in a rude or insulting way, understand that no we are not all special, but we only get one life, tell them to at least live it.

Tell them to hit up a shelter, some are religious, fair enough some may not like that, many are not though and they can always find a hot meal and someone to talk to.
Everyone of them has a story, they just need to share to heal and get back on with thier lives.
It's the same with veterans groups, theres so many homeless veterans in this county we should be ashamed.

They don't need compassion in the form of telling them they are special, they aren't.
They are just humans trying to get by in a world which acknowledges them with "Compassionate" platitudes of a quid or 2 here, but in reality it has forgotten them.

Talk to them, let them know they are still just one of us, those going through life the best we can.
In the end, it's up to them if they change.

Have you ever been homeless? I have.
Different people will have different needs, so it's very difficult to assume each individual needs the same approach. With the best of intention imo, compassion is high on my list as a starting point leading to proactive action. It is not necessarily about chucking a couple of quid their way or stopping to have a chat, which in my experience most don't want, compassion comes in many forms and guides and it's being aware of the various sources. We are not all the same and therefore can not be put in the same box! Namaste.

That is why not everyone is a child of the light.

There are some who could be defined as dark, or evil by nature or circumstance.
I dont find such labels as useful, but they fit for society.

I suppose we could get into the Hobbs/Rousseau argument of whether people are inherently good or evil if you wish.
However thats a long argument with little substance, because neither can be proven.

Try reading Browning's Ordinary Men.
How ideology can create monsters of men and women if they are given the ability, lack of compunction or position to do so.
There are many psychological experiments which have been well documented, which show the dark side of seemingly normal people.

There is a question mark over our ability to understand the human psyche as either good or evil, it is subjective to the individual.

So no, not everyone is a child of light.
