When returning home after crossing The Pennines on the A66, I always stop off at Barnard Castle. Do a little shopping, browse around. I used to always be able to get parked in the same place, the little layby that runs alongside the castle facing the river, done it many times... Yesterday and the last time I was there I couldn't get in... Campervans and cars took up all the spots. I blame Dominic Cummings! Since his visit during lockdown he's put this nice market town on the map. An unintended consequence that's affected the parking situation!
