I was filling up this morning at one of those old style petrol stations, the ones where you can't pay at the pump with your card. Went into the shop to pay, only to find a huge queue. The cause of the hold up was someone trying to pay for his fuel in coins. The gist of the argument was "this is a petrol station, not a bank, you can't pay in coins here", "yes I can, it's legal tender." Eventually, someone in the queue assumed the Henry Kissinger role and negotiated a settlement. He was allowed to pay with 5p 10p and 20p's but not the 1p and 2p's. They say we're heading for a cashless society. Bring it on!

First of all, you only use that car for dogging ;)

If your in a pitch and leave your wallet at home, sometimes coins in the car is the only way of paying. I kept about £100 in the boot of the car after that happened to me once. I was 1/2 a wake and in a rush, didn't think to look for my wallet before I filled up

But soon petrol stations will start to vanish or only be open for commercial vehicles. There a new by law coming in here in 2030 banning private vehicles from filling up within the city. If you need petrol its a 6 mile trip out

I wish it was

15 years ago when Brighton brought in 20 miles per hour speed limit we all said the same. In the last 20 years they built endless cycle lanes. Both are common place in most towns now.

But lets look at the garages that are going.

BP HOVE SF CONNECT 373 Kingsway HOVE BN3 4QD

I've heard the sites been sold for 2 million for housing development. If you look up the post code you can see its right on the beach.

Esso 236 Eastern Rd, Kemptown, Brighton and Hove, Brighton BN2 5JJ
Esso Station Approach, Denmark Villas, Brighton, Brighton and Hove, Hove BN3 3TJ

Both going for the same reason. The land is worth more than they're making.

Once these 3 go, the only one left below the railway line that cuts the town in 1/2 will be Asda at Brighton Marina, Brighton BN2 5UT

I think 4 more north of the railway line will go in the next 5 years.

Texaco 237 Hangleton Rd, Hove BN3 7LR
Shell 193 Preston Rd, Brighton BN1 6SA
BP Ditchling Rd, Brighton BN1 4SG
BP100 Lewes Rd, Brighton BN2 3QA

All of these are on land ripe for redevelopment.

The local council will not give planning permission for any new ones to be built.

My car has tinted windows all round, hardly conducive for dogging activities! ;) Have you noticed on the pumps they say 'minimum delivery 2 litres', I wonder what happens if you try to take less than the minimum?

I'm not sure o_O

I was thinking moped tank capacity and had to look it up.

  • Common Capacity: Many 50cc mopeds, like the AJS Digita and Firefox 50, have fuel tank capacities around 5.5L and 6.3L respectively.

Their bigger tanks than I through.

The only thing I can think of is they just charge you the full £3

Fun Fact for you about 'Filling Stations' Loar.;)

If we left right now...Could we get to MARS in 9 months?

NO......We can't leave Right Now...You have to leave when Mars and the Earth are properly aligned.

You see Mars in the Sky and you start travelling to it. Bingo, you get there?... NO.!

You have to travel to where Mars WILL BE THERE WHEN YOU GET TO IT.

So it's a matching of trajetory's that matters...It's called the 'Minimal energy trajectory'.

One where, you burn your engines and shut them off and you coast to Mars until Mars pulls you into it's Gravitational influence.. Then you Fly towards Mars.

That takes about 9 months.

But...if you could run your ENGINES all the time.. Which we can't do yet because we don't know how...Because we don't have enough Fuel..

IF we had 'Filling Stations' along the way.... we could do this..!

Fill up and burn the engines.. Accelerate to mars...This will give you artificial Gravity.

Do that, you can get to Mars in a matter of weeks.!

Engines for spacecrafts haven't improved much over the years, neither has the fuel they use. Both need to greatly improve before man can think of space travel. They will be able to do away with the need for heat shields then... So Elon, jog on or crack on with getting to Mars.
