What's the worst film to win the Oscar for best picture.? The first one to come to mind was 'The Hurt Locker' not a bad film but also not very realistic, but no, to me the clear winner, or loser! is the 1963 film 'Tom Jones'
If you can access the Sony classic film channel, (Sky channel 319 and I think it may also be on Freeview), 'Tom Jones' the film that won the 1963 Oscar for best picture is on at 11.45pm on Friday. It's of interest to film buffs but I didn't think much of it.Tom Jones the Welsh singer guy ?
Wow

One of the best TV series I've seen is Handmaid's Tale. A story about a dystopian world of Gilead where women are seen as nothing more than a means to repopulate a dying world, even if they want to or not. The women are forced to cease all their rights and freedoms to the new system, are indoctrinated to believe in the ways of Gilead, and are then made to wear oppressive clothes and serve a Commander, who is the head of a household and a powerful figure in Gilead. It's a belief system that is run on an ideology based on a religion, and not Christianity which is now banned.
The tale focuses on a Handmaid called June, or Offred, as these women are forced to give up their identities also, and they must serve their household or face severe consequences. She is someone who is looking to escape and wants to see her daughter once again, who has been taken from her and placed in a foster home. The hope of seeing her daughter and husband again are what keeps her going.
The series is a difficult watch, but does offer some light humour, especially the main protagonist who will make snide remarks and jokes in certain situations. The blend of characters makes you care about each one that is going through this horrific system, and makes you root for them to escape.

A fantastic ride of thrills, emotions, laughs, cries, shock, awe. You name it, you'll experience every emotion watching the show.
I got round to watching '1917' last night. It's a visually stunning film. It started off ok, but then it went daft with ludicrous plot holes... A bomb goes off in a confined space and not a scratch on either of them, Germans that can't shoot straight, an officer so grateful for being pulled out of a burning plane he stabs his rescuer! etc. Colin Firth and Benedict Cumberbatch are in it, but blink and you'll miss them.1917 - (2019 WW1 War Drama) -
During World War I, two British soldiers -- Lance Cpl. Schofield and Lance Cpl. Blake -- receive seemingly impossible orders. In a race against time, they must cross over into enemy territory to deliver a message that could potentially save 1,600 of their fellow comrades -- including Blake's own brother.
Some good period scenes and touching in parts -
I like a decent war movie but this was fairly tame for me
