our solar system is just one sun among millions in our galaxy
the universe is full of trillions of galaxies going on and on through space
there is no end....

I read that light travelling from the centre of our galaxy would take 2 million years
to get to the outer edge..... its hard to realize the size of just our own galaxy !

I think the Milky Way is approximately 100,000 light years wide, so light should take about 50,000 years to get from the edge to the centre (or vice versa).

The 2 million year figure is probably the time it takes for light to reach us from the Andromeda Galaxy.
