Both North East clubs Middlesbrough and Blunderland! were in the semi-final play-offs to be promoted to the Premier league. We were dreaming of an all North East final guaranteeing that one of them would go up. Both of them got beat - the worst possible outcome! Football can be a cruel game at times...

Sunderland: County Durham. Middlesbrough: Yorkshire. No such thing as 'the North East'.

What a night! What a goal!... with the last kick of the game. Blunderland no scrub that, Sunderland are in the play-off final for promotion to the Premier League. We may have plummeted down the divisions with successive relegations but we're on our way back. Having said all that, I don't think we can beat Sheffield who won their semi-final 6 - 0 but you never know...

Just watching an old re run of the 1982 World Cup preview show. Brazil were favourites at 15/8 and Brian Moore was rightly hyping them up. Zico, Eder, Socrates etc

Then they scored twelve goals in the tournament itself. All legendary goals too. They reach the quarter final. Against Italy. Go 2-0 up but somehow end up losing 3-2. They say it was the day the beautiful game died.
