I only moved into this place a couple of months ago. Yesterday I got a letter in the post from a debt recovery agency over an unpaid gas bill from 6 months ago. It was addressed to 'The Occupier' how cheeky is that?

to be fair, maybe the letter has time travelling prescience, is able to judge that you may be in debt one day, so its just warning you.

From experience: check if the previous occupant removed his address from your place, and if not, make sure it is removed A.S.A.P. (there should be an administrative procedure for doing so). If not, your stuff can and will be seized to repay the previous person's debts, and good luck on getting anything at all back.
