A friend, well not really a friend but someone I know from beach told me about creatine supplements.

Creatine is a compound the body naturally makes in the liver, kidneys and pancreas. We can also get it from animal proteins like red meat, fish and chicken. It acts as a quick fuel source for muscles, helping regenerate adenosine triphosphate, or ATP – a molecule cells use for energy.

But while busy goggling this caught my eye:

Studies suggest that creatine supplements may help brain function in people 60 and older. This includes:

  • Short-term memory.
  • Reasoning.
  • Neuroprotection (keeping groups of nerve cells safe from injury or damage).
Researchers are still studying whether creatine supplements may help people with cognitive (mental) conditions, including dementia.

And even the NHS is looking into this.

So off I pop to amazon and brought this for £13. (It was on a deal ;))

Yes I know its for design and used by athletes but I can still use it. After all I do walk from the sofa to the toilet a lot and lets not forget I have to answer the door for just eat too.;)

I was expecting every little from this after all the online influencers gave it the hard sell.

And I was wrong.

Creatine did increase my energy levels over the last week. My over all fitness feels better. I've had to increase resistance on my rowing machine, I was finding it too easy even after an hour.

There a spin bike some fool gave to me last year and I never used. I mite get that out and give it a spin next week. With more rain on the way I will be off the water another week.

Creatine as studied demonstrates the ability to enhance muscle glucose uptake which in turn might make you crave sugar

There was a point on Wed where my blood sugar felt low and I had to pop out and get a choccy bar. I started mixing creatine with a tea spoon of white sugar and that fixed the problem.

I was looking on the holland and barrett website and creatine is a hell of a price. If you can find it on a deal buy it and try it for a week or two. Even if you don't work out life's daily tasks mite seem a little easier ;)
