There is a very limited Christmas playlist...and the shops always play the same old songs every year....gets more then mind numbing...getting really sick of it....Most of the Christmas songs..we are talking pop music here only weren't even good when they came out...and no..they aren't classics....

The fact that they are played so frequently since their release alone establishes that ALL of those songs played at Christmas ARE classics.
Also, the majority hail from the 60's through to the 80's because very little of substance has been produced since that period in popular music.
You might draw a parallel with funeral music because people tend to choose what is classed as popular in that genre also.
