I knew my day was going to go badly when I popped into Asda but forgot to take a carrier bag. A true disaster I think you'll all agree. Worse was to come when I found out the price of one - 40p! 40p for a carrier bag. Didn't they start off at 5p when the charge was first introduced? Still, if it saves the planet.

I largely shop online for heavier items, milk, tinned stuff, dog kibble, etc, but if I do occasionally venture out for a mega shop I have it planned down to the last detail.

As an 'elite' shopper, I ALWAYS make a list.

Aldi is my choice of destination, and don't even bother trying to convince me otherwise. Their fresh fruit and veg is British grown and I really do not need 50,000 different brands of other products to choose from.

I also don't use a piddly bag for life, I use man-sized Ikea blue bags which hold around 70 litres, are indestructible, and I can just leave a stash permanently in the boot of the car.

I also don't pack in bags at the checkout, I pack it when I get back to the car, in my HUGE Ikea bags.

Simply because I HATE faffing about at the till packing and when a little old lady behind me in the queue is clacking her false teeth while she admires my elite in-and-out shopping style (and spying on what I bought, nosey fecker).
