Genuine question, I'm curious about peoples take on this question, I've had some heated debates about this recently with persons of other ethnicity.

They basically said NO you can't be racist towards white people because they are not oppressed like people of colour.

You can be racist towards Cornish, Irish, Scottish and Welsh too, there's a thing called the Framework Convention for the Protection of National Minorities, which is controlled by the Council of Europe.

Of course White people can be subject to racism.

Racism.{DEF} Prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against someone of a different race based on the belief that one's own race is superior.

Regardless of 'Colour'.

Well according to this person of colour, I am very uneducated to believe white people can experience racism. And I am racist for thinking they can.

Why not? Is the word "racist" to be used to empower all groups but Europeans? Even groups who occupy higher social strata than Europeans and non-Europeans alike? If so, I find the word "racist" itself a racist word. Or is this word to be objective and consistently applied?

The Oxford English Dictionary defines racism thus:

Racism: noun: theory that human abilities are determined by race.

If that definition is right, then scientific evidence which suggests a disparity in the ability of group members, governed by genes, will make racists of all who accept it. I suggest the word "racist", if it means anything, should mean unjust discrimination, dislike or hatred on the basis of race/ethnicity. For instance, I overheard a black man in Hyde Park shouting at someone that all white people are violent. If he was not racist, fie on that word!

I don't consider myself an Identitarian, ethno-nationalist or white advocate of any stripe. Still, this meme made me laugh:

"I'm proud to be black", said the black man.

"I'm proud to be Asian", said the Asian man.

"I'm proud to be Hispanic", said the Hispanic man.

"I'm proud to be white", said the RACIST!!!

I think the white advocate types are right... on this point at least. Europeans are held to a different standard.

..... and the Collins dictionary states....Racism is a hostile attitude or behaviour to members of other races, based on a belief in the innate superiority of ones own race. In my many years, experience of living and working with other races I have never felt that this has been an issue and dont know why people have to keep harping on about it. Most of us live happily and in harmony with everyone and are NOT racist.

Yes.
In fact I find a lot of coloured people to be more racist than white people, due to how much importance they place on race in the construction and maintenance of their own identities, and how preoccupied with it they always seem to be - including often attributing the cause of certain events in the world to some kind of underlying racial motive first and foremost, when it's otherwise not justifiably warranted to do so. For example, a white cop stops to question a coloured man for acting suspiciously, but who is automatically assumed to be only motivated by prejudice of the suspects skin colour, by a lot of coloured people. Or a coloured person gets overlooked for a job by a white employer, which is then, again, automatically assumed to just be because of discrimination against the applicants skin colour, by a lot of coloured people, etc.

And yet this implicit racially obsessed (and outright racist) outlook that a lot of coloured people have, is not only commonly accepted in society, but is also actively encouraged. The use of labels and identifiers such as "the black community", or "BME" (Black Minority Ethnic), are now widely seen as legitimate and promoted as something to be proud of and celebrated, as too are all festivals and award ceremonies that are created exclusively for coloured people. The effect of which though is only to drive a bigger wedge of segregation between coloured people and the rest of the populace at large, thus stoking more racial division, and enabling more racial supremacy/racism to flourish.

Could you imagine the uproar now if white people acted similarly to how coloured people do, and started proudly declaring themselves to be only of "the white community", or labeling themselves as WMA (White Majority Anglo) and then hosting festivals and award ceremonies exclusively for white people?

There's a clear double standard that exists in society
Coloured people are allowed and encouraged to identify, express and promote themselves, as well as stereotype and judge others, on the basis of race; but yet white people categorically aren't, constantly deterred by the threat of being branded a racist KKK Nazi, and then subsequently punished and silenced for merely attempting the same. "Check your privilege!" "Racist white trash!"

Well according to this person of colour, I am very uneducated to believe white people can experience racism. And I am racist for thinking they can.

This just reflects how racist he/she actually is in thinking that all white people are the same, in being all so universally malevolent and oppressive - and therefore all so morally reprehensible (i.e. so morally inferior) - that all ill-treatment and discrimination towards them by coloured people, is always justified.

So there is a big race war going on in South Africa at the moment against white farmers. The government there has proposed that farmers should share their property with all. Not only will white farmers lose their income and prosperity, but also they are being murdered over there.
So yes. People can be racist towards white people. The only problem is that we face a double standard with the hard left in politics. They believe that white people are indeed racist if they oppose immigration, integration into communities alienating current ones, opposing and criticising religion and supporting different political parties that oppose the left leaning socialist groups. But we never hear about the racism towards white people across the globe.

"prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against someone of a different race based on the belief that one's own race is superior."

That describes the current state of South Africa perfectly right now.

Is it me or has the race card stepped up a notch of late? Is there some sort of sinister agenda to make people dislike each other based on fickle reasoning. We are breeding a race now of passive aggressive individuals who for the world put on a face of acceptance claiming they aren't racist or judgemental however seem like discussing certain races when they are not within earshot or cannot defend themselves. It has even got the stage you hear a different accent and people become weary and judgemental. Say you aren't english born and even worse. It really isn't just about the different skin colour anymore. It has become segregation based on which country you come from, how educated and wealthy you are and the ignorant and older generations I find are the worst offenders. Get out more and travel and work in other countries and mingle with others and then form a reasoning for you racism.

To bring up the Cornish again, if people knew the stuff myself and other Cornish folk knew then you'd say the UK is governed by racism. We had to go to Europe to have a voice and be listened to. We still have no voice as Westminster is breaking the Framework Convention for the Protection of National Minorities and no media nor politician is willing to bring up that fact. If you knew some of the stuff about Cornwall then you may say Westminster is racist too.

I don't know who to trust on the South African farm attacks. I read one article which said as many black as white farmers have been murdered. Another said that white farmers are four times more likely to be killed than other groups. As far as I know, the South African government refuse to release the true figures. And of course I distrust interviews of the farmers conducted by alt-right figures like Lauren Southern. I know how groups like hers think.

If a governments or global establishments force integration which alienates communities, then there will be a resentment to not only those governments, but also immigrants. This is a common theme with the older generation in society who have paid their way and lived through generations of their own culture. Integration has effected some people's living standards and economic prosperity, so there is a sympathetic argument that goes towards the older generation regarding that point. So It's difficult to put the blame solely on older people because of this.
It's all about understanding how communities feel in certain areas of the country. As I've mentioned before, alienation and cultures are sacrificed to cater towards outsiders. This is why there is a deeper division in some communities as integration hasn't necessarily succeeded.
So this debate isn't always so black and white. There are also shades of grey to explore. I look at countries such as Japan and China, and how they view culture in their country. They believe in keeping Japan for the Japanese people, yet are admired by the double standards of the political left who think that because people want the same, they are considered xenophobic or racist. This is just a play into a narrative to silence and divide communities into acceptance, which i find rather odd. And what's even more hypocritical of it all is the fact that the people who advocate more integration and diversity, do no adhere to the same. It is usually suggested by majorly white communities. So who is really the racist here? It's worth thinking about because like is mentioned, not all is black and white in this debate on race, immigration and integration.

Indeed. You have to take into consideration of the narrative based of who is reporting these crimes against humanity. My only inclination to believe what i read about it is because of their dominantly black government and their narrative on farmers sharing own land with everyone, which is a very socialist kind of ideology. A kind of socialism that believes in equality, even at the cost of land owners.
It truly is remarkable, and yet not surprising that this isn't reported more on mainstream news. Whether it's white or black farmers that are being murdered, it really is an injustice. I also and wary as why the South African government refuses to release true figures and statistics on this. It begs my curiosity as to why they're being so reluctant.
