A suspect has been arrested for the murder of Brian Thomson in the USA. Thomson was CEO of one of America's largest health insurance companies. In an industry where 1,000 Americans go bankrupt every day due to extortionate medical bills, lose their homes or even denied life-saving hospital treatment. Including aftercare after operations, including children and extremely vulnerable elderly patients, because their insurance claims are frequently denied for nefarious reasons (cost-cutting).

Although it is not yet clear exactly why Thomson was murdered, his wife has stated that there had been previous threats in regard to medical insurance claims. There hasn't been much sympathy from millions of normal Americans directly affected by this issue.

Insurance premiums have surged in the USA due to the demand of the ravenous, greedy, corporate driven health care sector, and an estimated 66,000 Americans die each year as a direct consequence of this issue.

66,000.

I'm interested in finding out what motivated this young man who's been charged with murder. If he's convicted and ends up at New York's Attica state prison, I daren't think what fate awaits him there...

Although I can't recall the author or the name of the book, apparently in prison in the USA almost everyone has a little scam going on, whether it be gang related or otherwise.

The well-educated Mangione, like the author I mention, will probably end up teaching illiterate or semi-literate prisoners and taken under their wing for safety.

He certainly won't be attacked for his crime in prison, no doubt in a supermax prison to set an example, and will probably be hailed a hero in some quarters.

I live in the UK and without the NHS we would have lost our home to medical costs on at least a couple of occasions.

Thank goodness for the NHS. :)
