Autistic man suing Sainsbury's for not allowing his cat in store.

"A man with autism is taking supermarket giant Sainsbury's to court for refusing entry to his assistance cat.

Designer and writer Ian Fenn says the ban on Chloe, who helps him in daily life, is limiting his independence.

He says she helps him stay calm, but the supermarket argues that cats, unlike assistance dogs, present risks to food hygiene.

The case is so unusual that it might set a major legal precedent if the law needs to be examined by top judges."

Sainsbury's says it is working with an environmental health team to find out how Ian and his cat can visit safely.

I do sympathise, but what if his attachment was to a donkey, or a rat....would that be classed as an assistance animal?

Yes, they'll be bringing in pet rats next, because as per, the majority now have to accede to the human rights of the minority... or the one

Somehow I don’t think autism is the real problem here. :p
I think someone may be putting him up to this tbh.

He obviously has problems, but he is now 51, the cat is 12...he has managed so far without taking his pet shopping with him.
It sounds like someone is out to make a name (and a bit of cash) out of the supermarket to me.

How does taking a cat to Sainsbury's help with his autism though?

Autistic or not, he sounds like a bit of an attention seeker

It sounds like someone is winding him up to me.
Walking around a food shop with a cat on your shoulder, talking to it, asking it what he should buy, doing all this in front of the TV cameras....it's either a put up job, or someone taking advantage of a man with mental problems.

Shire horses are gorgeous animals, people get very attached to them too.
But God forbid anyone would want to traipse round Tesco with one because they calm them down.

I hope you managed a good night's sleep after typing this rubbish.

I did.
I just imagined saying it was my "Support penis".
Would be so funny.

Why haven't you gone for broke and passed comment on the thread, "Why I Love Dogs"?
I strongly suspect that you don't play bridge.
