Why is it so difficult to find free food?

I'm going through a disability benefits appeal right now (awarded zero points at last assessment despite being a stroke and cancer patient - the stroke was caused by the cancer treatment) and I have no idea how I'm supposed to feed myself. People make out it's so easy, there's free food everywhere but there isn't. The food bank is a nightmare to access, after getting a referral (which can take a week in itself) you sometimes have to wait a week for an appointment, then they give you three days of food and you have to go through the process again. People say "just go to a gurdwara or church!" The nearest gurdwara is 30 miles away and the loving Christians at church rudely turned me away when i asked for food. "Dumpster dive!" Where? All the supermarkets lock their bins. "Try Olio!" The only thing available in my local area was a bag of onions. Seriously where is all this free food because I can't find it. Even the hospital are no use. I fainted in the street and a woman who saw it called an ambulance. Turned out to be malnutrition. Discharged and a letter sent to the GP advising him to prescribe vitamin supplements. You wouldn't think this was a first world country in the 21st century where someone can starve to death for the crime of having cancer. I suppose they expect our families to care for us, sucks to be those of us who have no-one. Even the organisations who are meant to help like citizens advice or macmillan just pass the buck, saying try the others.

Free food is easy, just grow it yourself.
If you are having a problem affording food, maybe cut off your internet payments, or your mobile phone.
Those direct debits add up lol

Your in one of the most beneficial countries in the world, if you can't live on what your hand out is, then change your life style.

0 points??
How??

Discharged with vitamins whilst suffering from malnutrition???

Growing your own food is a good idea, as is reducing bills, ditching the unnecessary ones.
Depending on where you live, forage....
Research first, learn what's edible.

Talk to your carer (I'm assuming after your stroke you were set up with a care package) or Dr.

Ask for an emergency loan if you claim UC, talk to your bank as well.

Good luck

For pity's sake, this is a cancer and stroke patient who just told you he's basically starving to death.

I know I said I'd never exchange words with you again, but you really are an absolute piece of sh**.

Hi LostInANightmare,

I'm sorry for your troubles. Everything Aurora-Dream said plus:

1) Go to your local TV network, your local paper, local radio stations and start making a fuss - the louder you shout and the more bad publicity you attract for whoever is doing this to you, the more chance you've got of getting them to turn it round.

2) Go to your local hospital and faint/collapse there. They HAVE to feed you by law if you're a patient. Don't answer any questions, just hit the deck when they start speaking to you and tell them you're too weak to stand up/walk when you come round.

Good luck

Growing it yourself incurs costs though

Could be their only line of communication and contact

"Hand out" I pray you never need financial help for an illness or disability.

"Change your lifestyle" if only it were that easy.
