I’ve just watched U2 in Berlin.
Now, growing up U2 were the epitome of a rock band, I saw them 7 times live and they were brilliant. Then Bono tv decided he was God and it all went awry.

Up to the Zooropa they were all about the music, but suddenly politics was more important.

Now in my opinion The Joshua Tree is the album of all time, every track a classic and not one weak song to let the album down, but watching my favourite band sink to the levels they have now is heartbreaking. It’s all about Brexit and global warming. So sad.

I also like a lot of U2's early stuff as i did Simple Minds ,

Tracks like Where the Streets have no name "" Sunday Bloody Sunday "" Desire"" are just a few ,

The Simple Minds Album "Live in the City of Lights" is one of my fav all time ,

Both Bono and Jim Kerr always preached Amnesty International connections which i tried to ignore tbh ,

Both groups i think went on to long , U2 even more so with there ridiculous "Free to Download" releases online ,

I think Politics should be left out of entertainment and Sport.

The early stuff from U2 is pretty good, but they were never my favourites. They were the branded the "anti-establishment group", until money swayed them and they supported more established figures. It's such a shame as well, as i can't help but be drawn to those groups who defy the grain and stick to their principles, even if they are shunned by an established community of musicians and entertainers.

That's why I'll always admire entertainers such as John Lydon, Michael Caine and Robert Daltrey. People who stick to their principles, regardless of the negative backlash they may receive if they dare to say the wrong things. But that's why we love those types of figures.

I remembering watching a series called Bands Reunited, where they reunite bands back together for a single concert, who had fallen out for whatever reason, and just cut ties. There was Kajagoogoo, Squeeze, and i remember A Flock Of Seagulls appearing on the show.

Loved U2's music, their politics however..
They should have stayed out of politics.

pointless thread
You’re welcome to go onto each of the forums I created to post the same thing. Although resurrecting old forums is a pointless task. Enjoy.
Remind me again how you’re NOT a troll?

Ahhhhh. You deleted the other one from earlier huh? You’re only half as daft as you make out. Also good to know.

Enough commented. It wasn’t an attempt to make a ongoing forum, just a factual statement.
