Don't throw away a comfortable waterproof coat if it appears to be no longer waterproof.

Either wash it on a low temperature synthetic cycle, using a wash-in water-repellent product.

Or tumble dry a clean jacket on a low heat cycle.

Or alternatively, use a cloth between the coat and an iron and all three methods will reactivate the water repellant (DWR).

Happy reactivating guys :)

I'm brown and fuzzy, with a bright green heart,
In fruit salads and smoothies, I play a key part.
Packed with vitamins, sweet and tart,
What am I, that delights from the very start?

Happy riddling guys :)

Use an elastic band on a stubborn jar lid that won't open normally.

It's all about the grip, innit.

Happy elasticing guys :)

Fabulous tips!

Keep them coming please.

Thanks, I am please you are enjoying my top tips. I was going to breathe life back into and 'dig up' the trowel thread instead, but I ran out of "trowel tales" and then ran out of breath. :)

Try and get some form of exercise every day, if you are able, even casually strolling to the local shops and slightly raising the heart rate, is more beneficial for your health than not raising it at all.

Happy local shopping guys :)

So, as I am feeling nostalgic...

Here are some essential plastering tips:

1: Keep It Clean, Keep It Keen.

Nobody likes a dirty tool. Wash it down, keep it smooth, and never let things get crusty.
A well-kept trowel glides effortlessly, just the way you need and want it.

2: Find That Perfect Angle.

10 to 15° is where the magic happens. Too flat, and it won’t get deep enough. Too steep, and things get rough. Play around, feel it out, and hit the perfect slant for the ultimate coverage.

3: Long, Deep, Even Strokes.

None of that quick, frantic jabbing, this isn’t your first time, is it? The pros know it’s all about rhythm. Keep the pressure steady, spread it evenly, and make sure you work it all the way to the edge. Fast and jerky = bad. Smooth and controlled = pure satisfaction.

4: Tease the Edges.

When you reach the end, don’t just stop cold, feather it out. A gentle lift at the edge blends everything together seamlessly, leaving no harsh lines, just silky, effortless beauty.

5: Wet It Down for That Perfectly Moist and Smooth Finish.

A little moisture makes it perfect! The best finish? Wet and glistening of course. When things start to set, don’t be afraid to get it a little wet. A damp trowel at the right moment works magic, smoothing out every last imperfection until you’ve got a flawless, touchable finish.

Now...

Get out there and spread it like you mean it. Go lay it on thick and make those walls feel sensational.

And remember, plastering is a lot like love: It’s all in the technique.
