The irony of two journalists winning the Nobel Prize for Peace is that the United Kingdom is about to extradite Julian Assange to the USA after he exposed the US for their invasion of Iraq in 2003. Remember that they claimed it was because of Weapons of Mass Destruction ?
If we admit that Julian Assange was wrong for having published very private government cables not meant to be seen by the public, we must also admit that the United States almost certainly knew that there were no Weapons of Mass Destruction BEFORE she invaded Iraq !
The question of whether the US knew that Saddam didn't have any Weapons of Mass Destruction before she invaded Iraq WILL NOT GO AWAY.
Once the genie is out of the bottle it can never be put back into the bottle. The United States DOES NOT HAVE A MONOPOLY ON THE TRUTH. No country, no matter how powerful she is, does.
The following is a direct quotation from Brown University's Watson Institute of International & Public Affairs (Page updated as of June 2021).
"No one knows with certainty how many people have been killed and wounded in Iraq since the 2003 United States invasion. However, we know that between 184,382 and 207,156 civilians have died from direct war related violence caused by the U.S., its allies, the Iraqi military and police, and opposition forces from the time of the invasion through October 2019. The violent deaths of Iraqi civilians have occurred through aerial bombing, shelling, gunshots, suicide attacks, and fires started by bombing. Many civilians have also been injured."
