Is revenge evil or not?

Short answer: It depends on the intention, context, and consequence.

Deeper perspective:

  • Revenge vs. Justice: Revenge is personal and emotional — it's about getting back at someone. Justice, on the other hand, seeks balance and fairness. When revenge replaces justice, it can become destructive.
  • Philosophical takes:
    • Nietzsche saw revenge as a weakness — a slave morality based on resentment.
    • Gandhi famously said, "An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind."
    • Karma-based views (Hinduism, Buddhism): revenge is unnecessary — consequences come naturally.

So, is it evil?
Not inherently — it's a human impulse, not a moral absolute. But acting on it often leads to cycles of harm, escalation, and regret. That’s why many traditions caution against it.

2. Are problems really what we call problems?

Great philosophical twist.

Consider this:
What we call a “problem” is often just a situation that resists our expectations. The issue isn't the situation — it's how we perceive and react to it.

  • Stoics (like Marcus Aurelius): There's no good or bad — only our judgment makes it so.
  • Zen Buddhism: A “problem” is just part of the flow. Resistance creates suffering.
  • Modern psychology: Reframing a “problem” as a “challenge” changes your mental and emotional state.

So...
Maybe “problems” are just opportunities wearing uncomfortable clothes. Or lessons we haven’t yet translated.

Final Thought:

Both revenge and the idea of a “problem” reveal more about us — our pain, desires, and mindset — than they do about the world. When you stop and look at them deeply, they become mirrors.

Kate : Revenge is double barrelled. It's not evil if done in the right way.

We all have problems. Me included.

I don't think there is anyone on the Globe right now that doesn't have some sort of a problem.

Billionares have problems..!

Calling them Problems?

I get you on this...I don't know..!:)
