Jonathan Peter Brooks, a plastic surgeon broke into the house of a colleague before pouring a "highly flammable liquid" over the floor and stabbing him.
No need for Mr Brooks to sit round in a court room for his trial in a gray prison outfit. What I can tell Mr Brooks not even on remand in jail.

During the opening of the trial, Judge Edward Pepperall addressed jurors about the absence of the defendant and barristers on his behalf.

He told jurors not to "speculate about the reason that Dr Brooks is not here", and noted he had been offered the chance to be represented.

"The combination of these circumstances is highly unusual," he said.

"His absence is not evidence against him."

The trial, expected to last 14 weeks, continues.

This comes on the back of MP Mike Amesbury being let out of jail after he appealed his sentence after a few days.

Craig Gibson, 45, was sentenced to two years' imprisonment suspended for two years after taking 95k in COVID-19 bounce bank loans.

Britain became a place where the rich and powerful can buy there way out of prison with expensive barrister's. They can speed in cars without getting bans from the roads, they can steal from the government, they can commit acts of violence and unlike the rest of us they wont end up in jail.

Deep malaise in the country.

Many don't seem to care about being shafted, they'd rather argue until they're blue in the face over individuals such as Starmer, Farage, some Tory or other. As far as I can tell, they're the same people with a barely distinguishable twist on things.

All of the food and energy profiteering while some people are choosing between the two, and taxpayers' money leaking out to the banks as a result of private contracts instead of paying for newly qualified nurses to care for people; well, the information is all in the public domain, but you won't find many conversations about it on social media. The few you do find will be drowned in tweet after tweet arguing over Starmer or Farage or some Tory.

Strange country. The old adage: you get the government you deserve, Christ, does this apply to our country.
