To be fair the police were very busy last year. They had to ensure that Fred was wearing his mask while having a lonely beach walk, kneeling down to pay homage to a convicted criminal over the pond, paint their cars with rainbows, tell Joe and Jane Public that the care homes were only doing their job in stopping them from seeing their dying parents, and have the odd nap. There was no time left to do actual police work but hey ho, they danced for the NHS so it’s all ok.

Tbf the police haven’t been policing “petty” crimes for years now. I have a family member who was in the met and he said every phone reported stolen doesn’t even get investigated, car theft, burglary, catalytic converters. All just brushed under the carpet. Round these parts if you caught a burglar he would, in fact, get a good hiding and most people would not bother even reporting it unless it involved violence or they wanted a crime number for insurance. If your unlocked MTB gets stolen from your back yard, which happens a lot, then you buy a lock next time...

Totally agree with the comment above mine as well, of course, the bleeding-heart middle-class liberals who govern this country and have done at least since John Major want to convince us their political ideology has been successful and has led to a huge decrease in crime... in their areas of leafy suburbia of course...
