NE & NW England

Often wonder why a number of people from NE & NW England say they're from NE & NW UK, have the forgotten that there are a few hundred miles of UK north of the Scottish/Engish border ?

Yeah but Scotland only has 1/10th the population of England, so.

To us in England, North is different.
Scotland is tiny population wise.

Fair point about the population but surely north west is a geographic description nothing else. The UK extends several hundred miles north of the border to the tip of the mainland plus the distance to the northernmost point of the Shetland Islands and to dismiss that is an arrogance because it is not England.
