My Toaster

I bought the cheapest toaster that Tesco sold, and after about six years it works just as well as when it was new; although it didn’t work very well when it was new. I can toast two slices of bread at once, but the slices must be square, or small, otherwise they won’t fit in the slots. The toasting time is adjustable but I have to turn over the slices of bread half way through toasting, otherwise they burn on one side and are barely toasted on the other.

Besides the time control, there are three buttons on the toaster: One is labelled cancel, one defrost, and the other reheat. I have never used any of them, so I don’t know if they do what they are supposed to. There is also a lever that raises two arms above the toasting slots, so that you can place something directly over the heating elements, but I don’t know what should be placed there, or why. The body of the toaster is made of white plastic, and looks okay from a distance. And that, I think, is as much as can be said about my toaster.

Excellent description of your transcendental Tesco toaster, although I must say I prefer silver plastic to white as it blends in more with my Star Wars themed kitchen.

Here is a picture of my favourite kitchen gadget.

Ladies and gentlemen, let me introduce the..... The BACONATOR!

A very detailed description indeed of a toaster by the OP. If it's never given good service I wonder why it was never replaced. That applies to anything in life, goods or people. If they're not doing what they're supposed to be doing - replace them. As for my toaster, all i can say is that it satisfactorily does the one job it's supposed to do.
I had cause to replace my car recently as it wasn't given good service, probably because it'd have never had a service! I ended up with betterment. In the old days to lock/unlock your car you had to open it with a key, how tedious! Then they came up with pressing a button on a fob to lock/unlock, an improvement... Well, with this Vauxhall Mokka all you have to do is approach the car, it sense the fob on your person and unlocks the vehicle. Walk away from the car and everything locks. Modern technology eh? I'm rambling on a bit here but if something/someone is letting you down - gib them.

I don't know if I should reveal my kitchen gadget and appliance secrets, so please don't tell anyone else, this is for forum eyes only, OK?

John Lewis own brand is excellent quality, and made by the same manufacturers who make middle to top end products. They also do a fantastic guarantee scheme, compete with the high-street stores on price, and for a quality own brand made by the same company(ies) who makes the likes of Dualit.

Wink wink nudge nudge.

;):rolleyes::oops:

I'm determined to get my £7.50s worth out of it before I buy another one.
