I bought the cheapest toaster that Tesco sold, and after about six years it works just as well as when it was new; although it didn’t work very well when it was new. I can toast two slices of bread at once, but the slices must be square, or small, otherwise they won’t fit in the slots. The toasting time is adjustable but I have to turn over the slices of bread half way through toasting, otherwise they burn on one side and are barely toasted on the other.
Besides the time control, there are three buttons on the toaster: One is labelled cancel, one defrost, and the other reheat. I have never used any of them, so I don’t know if they do what they are supposed to. There is also a lever that raises two arms above the toasting slots, so that you can place something directly over the heating elements, but I don’t know what should be placed there, or why. The body of the toaster is made of white plastic, and looks okay from a distance. And that, I think, is as much as can be said about my toaster.
