Lost anything lately?

Apart from your freedom of course; but I don't mean that, nor any loss of
friend or family.
I mean just something that was dear to you, and you lost.
In my case it was Teddy.
I caught diphtheria when I was very young and was sent off to the fever hospital where I spent some time. I took Teddy with me.
I don't remember much about it 'cos I was only three but when they sent me home, all better, I wasn't allowed to bring my Teddy.
It has haunted me all my life.

Also a lovely watch I had - can't find it lately. That's quite annoying.

I also think that maybe Teddy also had diphtheria and possibly reacted to the treatment less favourably. I imagine the adults involved merely avoided the topic so as to minimise immediate heartbreak, but in doing so, created a lifelong horror instead. Sorry. x
