I don't really know. I know that our brain processes sources of information, but I also believe in an energy source that helps us project different emotions and aids us in building relationship. The brain could be telling us that we should react in a certain way because of the information we're gathering depending on the situation. So if someone's crying, your first reaction might not be to point and laugh out loud. It would be to ask what's wrong and whether there's anything you can do to make them feel better.

I don't believe in the biblical version of deity. However, I have a hard time believing that consciousness springs forth from matter.

When the body dies, the personality leaves and moves onto another dimension. If that is what you mean by 'heaven', then yes, heaven exists. If however, you mean a place of peaceful rest, then it depends on your behaviour while here on the earth.

We seem to talk as if we are the only Species on the Planet . How about Cats .Dogs etc . Whatever happens to us also happens to all creatures on earth( including Covid 19 !

My opinion of course.

Whilst one can never be sure about the existence of a god and heaven etc, I am of the opinion gods, heaven and hell are human creations.

When you are dead you lay 6 foot underground slowly degrading in an air tight box or you swim with the fishes or sit on a mantlepiece as ash ,

You can't blame them for glamming it up a bit ,

Before you die i advise smashing your own teeth out and at least cashing in with the Tooth Fairy.

At what point were monkeys made aware?

That is worth consideration.

lol @ behaviour on earth, do you believe the lord is like a headmaster marking us all like an exam as we float up to the golden gates for judgement day?

I can understand why people may wish to believe in an afterlife to give comfort for a finite life often marred with suffering etc but I don't see how any fully functioning adult can believe our behaviour on earth is going to impact an " afterlife" when our genetics combined with upbringing dictate how our personality is formed. Neither of those two factors are down to an individual so a more interesting question would be does a human being have free will when our blueprint for how we behave is already pre determined to a huge degree. The notion of someone abused as a child growing up in a slum only knowing abject poverty subsequently becoming a career criminal with no role models of behaviour from an early age combined with a genes inherited from parents that could result in a serious personality disorder will be subsequently slithering down the slide to hell/ the devil after death compared to a kid born to affluent parents able to donate to charity attending church in a family owned rolls royce floating up to St peter is utterly ridiculous.
