Racehorses are not pets, they have to earn their keep. Jumping fences is dangerous, making them smaller does not make them safer, as they are finding out at Aintree. They've spent the last two decades modifying the fences on that racecourse to make them safer. I suspect more horses have died in those two decades than in the previous two... Because the race has become more about racing and less about jumping, resulting in horses entering races there that are are totally unsuitable for taking on such a formidable course.
