The idea of both of these is you change out of your wet swimming things into dry clothes on the beach.

This is a dry robe. They start at round £40
What I see is women wearing dry robes and using them as summer coats. They walk dogs in them mostly. It can be 30C outside and guarantee I will see women wearing them on the beach. Men only wear them during the colder months of the year after a swim.

This is a adult poncho towel. Prices start from about £20.
I have one or two of these myself. Light weight, good for the warmer months. Local people here wearing them, mostly kids and a few of the regular morning swimmers.
This all comes down to cleaning and drying, not cost. Both of these get soaked in sea water and sun tan oil. Pockets fill up with pebbles and sand.
In my experience adult poncho towels are just more practical. Easier to wash and dry. Dry robes do have place in beach life. If your cold water swimming over the winter there idea for the walk home, but are harder to clean and dry.
