My favourite saucepan lid had a tiny black mark on the rim that I could not scrub off for love nor money. This went on for several months and went as far as googling cleaning hacks online. I have a small powerful torch at hand in the kitchen as an aid to help read cooking instructions on packaging. I randomly shone the torch onto the saucepan lid to try and work out what the mark was and discovered, to my absolute horror!
The black mark was actually a tiny hole in the lid to let steam out.
