I had a doctors appointment canceled at short notice last week. They rang me up at 8pm to tell me. So I had to spend 2 hours waiting inline at the NHS walk in centre on Sat morning

Turns out I had bowel infection and they gave me some pills for it.

But I did sit there watching and listening.

Twice I saw two doctors walk into the reception area and talk to staff. They made follow up appointments for people they just saw. One of them was on the phone to another doctors surgery. He told them to give this person an appointment first thing Monday morning. From what I can tell, there was a short argument and I did hear the phase " just canceled one of the regular time wasters and book this person in". The appointment was made.

I'm wondering how many times that happens.

Doctors must have there reasons for this, but its not ideal if your the person who lost the appointment after waiting weeks for it.

Maybe I'm one of those "regular time wasters" ............. I only see a doctor once a year and I try to avoid that ;)

Years ago, GP's when faced with a time waster would give them a prescription writing A.D.T on it. This was a message to the pharmacist to give them Any Damn Thing, vitamins, iron tablets etc...
