had a few ideas when a young man I never built on due to lack of time and money! they eventually all came out by somebody else .one being the garden leaf vacuum! I didnt get as far a smoking it a blower too but just wanted to clean up a huge garden strewn with leaves and raking took all day ..well seemed like it so came up with why not vacuum a garden like we do a carpet. I thought about having a carry around machine like a small vacuum cleaner with nozzle/tube for leaves and exit into a large mesh /net bag .so air can escape but leaves get trapped .never did anything about that and this was years before black and decker came out with a leaf blower. other one was drill chuck and always losing a chuck key or having to tie it to drill etc .I thought about that ( we are talking about 1970's here) and came up with a 'cam' locking operation where you lock motor spindle up with a spring button? and rotate chuck outer part causing cam to move in and grip on drill. again never did anything about that! 2 successful ideas . a few others but hey life says if u sit back and dont put in effort u don't get rewards . how true that is.

You're definitely a budding contestant for BBC2's Only Connect. All you need to do now is getting two others to join you with equally ludicrous claims.
Bear in mind though that you will have to possess an I.Q. of at least 150 and a mental age of about ten. Good luck.
