Rumours abound that cameras are being put up on the Bus Lane at the bottom of Old Torrington Road in Barnstaple. A contentious issue in that it was only ever put there because a Councillor didn’t like cars driving past her house. There is no logical reason for that bus lane. I live next to it on the Old Torrington Road side and work in Bideford, by closing that access again will mean I have to travel an extra 4 miles a day. This will also apply just to go to any of the three supermarkets. So much for reducing your carbon footprint and emissions. It is used as a rat run I agree so just put some speed bumps there don’t punish the people that live there and the same applies to the people that live the other side on all the new developments there. If closed it will cause an even greater grid lock around Cedars and raise carbon emissions considerably for other households. There is absolutely no justification in having a bus lane there.
