Do you think that for a young Muslim man, living without any other Muslim people around him, Islam's rules are outdated, difficult to abide by and destined to failure?

Really; am talking about a young, single Muslim pilot, staying in Wales in the sticks with us... took a prayer mat to work with him and prayed 5 times a day but went out drinking alcohol often and slept around. I just wondered if this is the norm and if this therefore means that it's really difficult for those living here to resist our lifestyle... I wonder how many young men with this tempting lifestyle just can't resist and if Islam is therefore a realistic religion to follow outside of a Muslim area or family.
