I am mostly technology illiterate, but I have just bitten the bullet and finally invested in a new OLED 4K TV and Dolby Atmos surround sound system.
Both branded Hisense (excellent reviews online) and at a fraction of the price of flagship more well known brands like Sony, LG, Samsung etc and so this isn't a boasty bigballs Fred thread.
Now usually I am not interested in hype jobs in technology, and hang onto stuff until it is on its last legs before replacing it, but because of the 4K content of Netflix and YouTube, Apple TV etc, my old TV just wasn't up to the job and didn't do the content justice.
Because I mainly use my TV for online films, YouTube and music content etc and not live TV. I haven't watched the BBC for years, and the terrestrial TV news channels just don't interest me due to the propaganda they churn out.
Blimey! Wow! Just how good is this technology, I have been binge-watching films and on a wider screen and in 4K older films are like watching them for the first time and with so much more detail that I missed the first time around.
This though, unfortunately, raised another issue, I have a huge DVD collection from back in the day and my old DVD player (lol) wasn't up to the job with this new set up, and so I had to sort that out too.
I found a modern secondhand 3-year-old Sony player on eBay for quite literally pennies, and now I can watch all my old films in almost 4K quality.
Bloody brilliant, ta ra, have a great day ya all.
