The Clerihew!

OOP north there is such dismay
‘At the acts of Boris J.
He overrode the sitting Mayor
Who thought his actions quite unfair!

‘Corona came from China!’
Now there’s a real one liner.
And now they’ve come off best
By ficking up the West.

I do not like thee, Keir Starmer. MP.
And the reasons are quite easy to see.
Your eyes asquint, your question's blunt,
You really are a boring fellow.

OK! It's not a clerihew...but?

Jo Biden was bidden
For thirty years,
His talent hidden
Behind the tears;
And now it’s come!
His day of days:
The house is his
Just hear the cheers. :rolleyes:o_O:eek:

Anthony Blair
Has such an odd stare.
He smiles a lot too:
At you.

I feel so sad for Boris J;
He’s under lock and key today
And for another fourteen days:
He should listen to what he says.

Starmer ‘ain’t no stormer,
Nothing like his former.
He’s rather like a pussy cat
With eyes that say ‘ooh! Fancy that.’

Rhymes with door-bin.
And there ours does sit:
It’s quite full of sh**!

Off the pills? More like keep taking them, surely. :)
While I am here, however, I must declare that I am not a fan of clerihews. They are far too short to get across any meaningful message.
I suppose they are amusing to those who prefer to say 'something witty with a hint of rhyme and rhythm'. A bit on a par with limericks, I'd say.

'You're such a condescending twat!'
I feel much better after that.
It's such an easy thing; a rhyme:
A poem though is more sublime!

In tune with the mainstream of poetry criticism
Perdition finds clerihews lacking in witticism.
'They're too short for meaning' Perdition declares.
And Dong, unabashed, says 'Who cares?'

There once was a poet from Derry who
Attempted to knock out a Clerihew
It was all looking fine
Til he added a line
Which made it a really crap limerick

Clerihews are not short, they are sharp;
And in order to comprehend
Ones wits must be strung, like a harp,
'Till the music doth ring. as a trend.

A post-futurist of the present
Once said 'I really resent
The way things are said,
For I now live in dread
Of what is to come, lest it's decent!'

Oh! Fishhooks and bollards the young lady said
As she parted a mackerel from all of his head.
Her hands were all slimy and smothered in scales
And she thought herself lucky she wasn't on Whales.

Another non-clerihew.
Dead Thing!

Bereft of life it staves off death
This virus in a tube.
And the history, not the body
Is giving certitude.

Safely now may carers care
And minders to their duty
And they that might have died
Will live: and that is beauty!

Waft not my way

Waft not my way, Corona
For I am old, and wise
You will not creep upon me
I’ll not be one that dies.
The changes you may ring
Will no advantage take
Lay not yourself beside me
For I have years to make.
And at the end of time
When all my grubbing’s done
I will make a sign
And then you will be gone.
