The Clerihew!
OOP north there is such dismay
‘Cos of the acts of Boris J.
He overrode the sitting Mayor
Who thought his actions quite unfair!
DONG first sign of madness talking to yourself i keep off the pills if i was you
Off the pills? More like keep taking them, surely.
While I am here, however, I must declare that I am not a fan of clerihews. They are far too short to get across any meaningful message.
I suppose they are amusing to those who prefer to say 'something witty with a hint of rhyme and rhythm'. A bit on a par with limericks, I'd say.
In tune with the mainstream of poetry criticism
Perdition finds clerihews lacking in witticism.
'They're too short for meaning' Perdition declares.
And Dong, unabashed, says 'Who cares?'
There once was a poet from Derry who
Attempted to knock out a Clerihew
It was all looking fine
Til he added a line
Which made it a really crap limerick
